Was that today? I was up in the Suches area today on my MTS. I did see a couple panis and lots of LEOs. Great riding tho!
Some of those pics look like Richard Russell Hwy 348??
Had to stop and check on a guy on Richard Russell Hwy, solo rider lots of pea gravel on that one corner and he went off, not seriouslly injured luckily.
Just as I was leaving ridershill in Dahlonega a nice Pani Tricolore pulled in. Anyone here?
Nice
Have you ridden Wolf Pen Gap and Blood Mountain??
I don't think so. I got to look it up.
blood mountain goes up thru vogel state park, think hwy 76 or 75 (I get them mixed up). If a local took you most definately you hit that road.
I haven't done wolfpen gap since last year, as I recall it's a very tight road? I'm horrible with road names tho.
I got to ridershill at 0900 and waited for my friend who didn't make it til after I left. so got on the twisties at 1030, still traffic surprisingly light, not many bikes either.
youngR do you live in GA now?
I have a house here but haven't been back for years. I am here for 2 more weeks or so and I have head out to Afghanistan.
Wolf Pen is tight and can be tricky.. snow lingers up there as it doesn't get much sun.. But its fun... Haven't done it for about 4 yrs... There was also a road very near Helen I remember that was fast and fun too... All I can remember is that is was called some kinda scenic byway.. Not much help I know...
that scenic byway is probably RIchard Russell hwy 348 it's spectacular with fairly good road surface and a great mix of tight and sweepers, you can do a great pace on that road, it's kind of got the same vibe as the cherohala, tho less traffic.
hwy 180 - two distinct sections. the one leaving TWO in suches is very tight and has a couple 180 degree hairpins, also very dark in many spots, hate that stretch, wrecked there many years ago on my 996. The other part of 180 is really nice.
YOu can't really pick a bad road up there.
BTW> any of you guys that have been riding up there regular may remember TWO (two wheels only) motorcycle campground. They've been closed for a few years but are about to reopen. No visit to the area is complete without stopping in there for some sweet tea!

It's Hwy 129 that goes over Blood Mtn.
Pics were shot at overlook at top of Richard Russel Scenic Hwy.
Wolf Pen Gap Rd is Hwy 180 from Suches over to Hwy 129. Not my favorite. Much better from Suches is Hwy 60 up to Morganton and back (bout 50 miles). Fill up there in Suches (premium grade is ethanol-free).

I'd meant to ride by TWO yesterday and then 60 N, and you're right that's a great road! Missed a good road Charlie,
I'll let you know next time I head up that way.
North GA is where I learned to ride motorcycle back in the late 80's! The best roads on earth IMO from there north to TN.
Blood Mountain is my favorite, but way to many LEO's on the weekend. Go after about 5pm during the week and you have 3 hours of that road to yourself. Here's a video I made with a friend following me on his '05 R1 about 4 years ago, I am on the Buell 1125R in front.

Can't wait to get the Pani up there to my old stomping grounds. Now with 720 miles on the clock, it is starting to feel less "tight".
