Damn that was rough.

I can't iterate enough that if you are thinking of installing a full system yourself... Don't. Save the extra money and pay the dealer. Though, if you're like me and have a good set of tools and like a challenge, go for it. :D

My favorite tool this time was my sons baseball bat... For real.

I spent about 12 hours on it from start to finish. That includes a lot of cleaning I did since I had everything apart. I work at a slow pace to make sure I get it right the first time. I also do a lot of contemplating along the way which slows the process down a bit (as in, do I really have to remove those 2 things to get to that one bolt?... Really?). I had to modify the carbon heat shield to fit the pegs since my son rides with me a bit in the summer. Though, I didn't put the pegs on and its going to be a ..... to do later.

The pipes have a nice shiny gold tint to them now. I also have the replacement lower fairing in (burnt / warranty) that I'll get put on this week.

Good job. Did mine myself as well. Lots of ther time (mine was about 8 to 10 hours) was in the cleaning - same as you. Anyone thinking of doing it make sure you don't rush, use brand new exhaust gaskets, put heat-resistant Loctite on the exhaust shield mounting screws, and keep reminding yourself you love being part of this experience. Feels good to do it yourself.

great job!
"if you want to have done something right, do it yourself" (swiss saying, i guess there's a similar one in english). if the dealer would be in charge to do this, he wouldn't pay so much attention to details and he wouldn't do all the cleaning: simply because the customer wouldn't pay it....

Good job.

Priceless to know you did the job and did it well :)

Yeah.. I'd had a bit of an issue with my Termis too. Something about trying to sleeve two not so round pipes into each other.

I'm on my 3rd melted plastic fairing. Put some heat tape on it and space it out about 3-4mm with washers. That stopped the melting. Over 10k on the 3rd one now. :)

It was the stock pipe that had melted the .... out of the fairing!
