Hi all

Got my bike on wednesday(S/ABS), the weather isn't very good but have done about 400km. I haven't had any smoke at startup even if I was told not to worry about it by the dealer.

The looks and sound of the bike are amazing, for me it's the most beautiful bike ever! (much better in real then on pics)

For the run in I read all the book they give with the bike, and it clearly says that from 1000-2500 km you should not be doing more than 7000rpm. The first few km the power delivery wasn't very smooth but now it's just getting better all the time. It goes easely to a bit more then 160km/h with 6000rpm, but for shure it's easy to feel all the power comes just after so it's hard to let go of the throttle.

The cornering is impressive, it feels bolted to the road and it seems as agile as my CBR 600 RR. It's a funny feeling, it's like driving a smaller bike with a huge engine. The gearbox is very precise and brakes and clutch offer great feeling. Look were you want to go and the bike goes.

The only problem I have had is the bike suddenly goes quiet if I drive at low speed(50km/h) at about 3100rpm and the throttle doesn't respond very well, if I change gears or accelerate a bit harder the problem goes away and the concert starts again:).

I have the racing seat, I think you sit at least 2 or 3cm higher, for me it 's perfect and it looks great! (even if it's not like the picture, ducati performance isn't written in white)

I ve been driving in the dark and the lights are simply wonderfull, it's the first time I can actually see something in the dark with a bike!

A last point I found interesting is TC mods 1 and 7 were developped with different tires then on the bike so it is adviced not to use them.

What else? The bike feels special, it's got soul, I am simply in Love!!!
I hope you all get your bike quick! And for those still wondering if they should get one or not, get one.

If you have any questions happy to help if I can.

Cheers
Ash

could you please expand on: "A last point I found interesting is TC mods 1 and 7 were developped with different tires then on the bike so it is adviced not to use them."

Yes in the book it is explained that the TC 1 was setup with the race tire ( pirelli diablo supercorsa SC2), the mod 7 was setup with pirelli diablo rain (190/55 and not 200/55).
Hope you understand better.

Cool now I understand, thanks for the reply. Something new to keep in mind. Hadn't heard about it before

Thank you sir...I read your post and once again I'm smiling about my decision.

Great write up and look forward to the next if I don't get my bike in the next few days...

Unless you walked into your dealer and said I want that seat in the picture, but instead ordered by part#, then I dont think you have the Superstock race seat.
It doesnt look like the seat in the pic.

There are two seats in the ducati accessories, the racing seat and the confort seat, I have the racing seat. I'll put pictures but you guys are funny, how would you know wich seat I have?

I also have the rece seat. It is different form what was shown on the Superstock bike at the shows and what was shown in the accessories book.

It looks to be a cross between the standard and the comfort seat in size but with a neoprene type grippy cover.

As so, I will try the "new" race seat while I have my stock seat to be reworked in neoprene.

+1.. lol.. funny how some ppl are psychic like that ;)

Ash I don't think people are saying you are wrong, or that you dont know which seat you have, it is just from what you are saying about it being 2 or 3 cm higher than standard, because even to me that sounds a lot, and the race seat actually looks lower than standard, I think that's the only reason people are saying they think you have the comfort seat, as naturally that should be higher with the extra padding. I personally have bought both, just for the long touring rides etc, and also because I couldn't decide which I preferred or how hard the race seat would be, but that's just me!

Ash...All good, Dont want to get into a seat war:D
I asked my guy to get the one in the pic, which is a race seat done in black with white decal....I dont want anything other than that one....which ever that one is :D

i ordered the race-seat because i thought i could save 2cm of height.
i was wrong!
the black&white picture in the web-catalog gave me the wrong impression!
i will get the race-seat reworked and keep the standard as spare part.
i let probably cut aut all of the cushioning like it was on older racebikes.
did that on the bmw a was very pleased with it.

does it mean the Aprilia's TC is smarter....?

APRC Aprilia Performance Ride Control, the electronic management package including:
ATC: Aprilia Traction Control automatically adjusts to different types of tyres, with 8 settings conveniently selectable while racing from a joystick on the left handlebar without turning down the throttle;
AWC: Aprilia Wheelie Control with three settings;
ALC: Aprilia Launch Control, for use on the track only, with 3 settings;
AQS: Aprilia Quick Shift, for ultra-fast shifting without closing the throttle or using the clutch.
