Just finished my first track day at Laguna Seca (and first track day ever). To speak to the capabilities of the bike (not myself), I ran a 1:43 (have to confirm on GoPro but that's what the headlight timer said), which I am rather thrilled about. Lots to work on of course. Will post photos/videos later!

Amazing bike. Completely stock other than rearsets, crash protection, and the GP-A Dunlop tires. Oh and a RC17 master cylinder but that doesn't add too much.

that's a decent time.

I know for MotoAmerica last year the guys were running low 1.30's in superstock 1000's.

post a vid.

Surprised you even made it through with their super strict db levels.

Did you get flagged in at all?

editing the footage now, will post in a little bit!

never got flagged, and was WOT on the sound-test straight. i just short shifted a bit but i don't even think I had to.

Completely surprised you didn't get meatballed for sound.

Yup, a 1:43 for your first track day is pretty damn decent. Surprised you passed sound.

were you hugging the left side of the track after Turn 5 going up the hill with sound?

Nice times! Very good for first time out for sure.

Thanks man! Give me a shout when you head out to your next day!

So you're running a 959 with what exhaust? Surprised they let you run untaped mirrors.

It's a 1299 with the OEM "Race" plastic (i.e., unpainted plastic raw white ABS). I kept forgetting to tape the mirrors like a moron.

Another reply with how lucky you are that your bike was so quiet that day.

I was even willing to go back to stock exhausts on my 1199R, but it still wasn't even close with decibel limits for that track.

Nice!! I love Laguna and managed to run it twice during the time I lived in NorCal. I was curious how my 1199 w/stock exhausts would do so I did a sound check with Keigwins. WOT, my bike only measured 91db and this was on the race line.
