Well holly cr@p!!, NOT a 5 minute job, even for a seasoned mechanical engineer and racer, the booklet supplied by Ducati/termi is a must, I have refitted the glass, the heat protection supplied in the kit is a .... to fit, used on the bottom rear of the tank and also to protect the ECU, getting the ECU out requires the rear tank mount to totally be removed from the sub frame, this is not explained in the booklet.
The standard fairings WILL touch the link pipe running from the front cylinder to the collector manifold. Even with the rubber bung provided with the kit. I am machining a spacer to fit between the race glass and also wrapping that area of the exhaust.
To those of you who have not had the software/firmware upgrade done get to it, makes a huge difference to the standard engine performance, so I can now give you some feed back on power differences.
Stock on dyno, just run in is 176rwhp, stock headers with cans and map changes improved midrange torque by 8% and ended with 182 rwhp, full system with full map gave a 1% drop in torque but a final figure of 187 rwhp.
I expect this will improve with another 1000 or so KM's in the motor, did this with both bikes, standard ABS and 1199s, no real difference in engine performance between both, the "S" has about 2 more bhp but has more KM's on the engine.
The race system gets REALLY REALLY hot... I am not kidding, you will get burnt if you accidentally touch the little screw that fits the heat shield, be very careful.
So my conclusion for all out there in performance land is this, fit the cans, don't fit the full system unless you are going to race the bike, and then have a good think about it, if you do fit it, get it "coated" first, it will make a huge difference to the radiant heat. Whilst dyno figures can be different depending on the type, the operator and tyres used I am happy with my dyno guy, he also thinks there is more in the motor with the right filters and a PC V or tune boy.
Our AUstralian pro-stock series will not allow a rad upgrade so any more power is going to be hard to find and manage based on heat from the motor.
I have some road parts if anyone has been unfortunate enough to damage their bike and needs bits...
I hope the info above helps if you are looking at exhausts for your paini...
