Has anyone bought this Duc 1299 WSBK painted carbon with fiberglass tank cover from Flamingo Corse? It retails for 340 euros which is around $368.25. But that includes a 19% VAT tax which every european vendor Ive bought from removed. So that means the 340 euros should come down to 275.40 euros. And thats $298.28. From my research flamingo corse products are better than carbottcompossites. I remember someone posting they sold their carbottcompossites because of poor mounting and quality and purchased the flamingo corse. Tank cover GP Replica painted What are your thoughts guys on something like this on our bikes? The only eye sore if I see is the gas cap cover sits lower than the tank cover which kind of annoys me.

I have the Flamingocorse 1199 standard fiberglass tank cover that I painted to go along with my track body work. I got it for a few reasons - I wanted to paint my bike for the track and I didn’t want to paint the stock tank (in case I decide to sell the bike later on and can convert back to street with all the stock bits and have it look mint), just make sure you cover your tank with a layer or two of painters tape just to protect the tank from any scuffing or rubbing when installing or removing the tank cover. Plus it was way cheaper than buying a spare tank and painting that. And I also thought it might hold up and give a bit of protection in the event of a crash - who knows if it actually would or not, but I imagine in a low side it would help prevent scraping on the tank itself, similar to those tank guard puck things people put on. That’s what I tell myself anyway.

As for the gas cap sitting lower, yes, it does, and it can actually prevent it from staying in the open position when you go to refuel without having to hold it. A little bit of dremmeling can fix that though. It was a bit annoying at first before I fixed it.

All in all, I’m fairly happy with it.5D0B842E-11CC-4053-9AA3-2A8BC1ED993F.jpeg

What are you trying to achieve with this part? Cosmetics?
I was just thinking about changing the look of the tank thats all. But after I made this post I started to calculate everything I just spent on the bike from December to now. And even though I sold a lot of my other after market parts to buy new parts which I bought at dealer cost so the hit wasnt bad at all between the new parts I bought and the parts I sold. I said to myself whats the point of spending money on a cosmetic part when I should save up and buy what I really need. Just because a bike is pretty doesnt mean she handles well. I decided to invest the money into an upgraded suspension. My buddies call certain cosmetic upgrades farkle. Funky and sparkly lol

If you guys know of Dave Moss, u can book a FaceTime / Skype call with him and he’ll help you setup your suspension and dial it in nice.

With the electronics on my 1299S it was $60 for a virtual session with him.

Do u have a suspension genius, Cycler? Or are you capable of setting up ur new suspension?

What suspension components are you considering?

Im thinking of the ohlins FGRT 203 front forks with a Ohlins DU466 rear shock. Thats not a difficult install. If I were doing the NIX 30mm cartridge kit that would be mission

But Im doing it one step at a time. Next thursday or friday Ill order the rear Ohlins DU466 shock. And in March or April Ill order the Ohlins FGRT 203 front forks and a cnc racing lower tree

Just need to have a certain someone hint hint have a custom Kangaroo suit made with gloves. Buy a battery with charger. Upgrade their OEM slipper clutch to something better. Maybe convince a certain someone to upgrade his rear sets and get different adjustable lever and lever guards. And that would help out for another certain someone to achieve their life long dream of allowing their Duc 1299 to have it always wanted. ahem ahem. lol

Haha damn, everyone’s focusing on their dreams now cause Ducati put it in our subconscious with their bs marketing campaign

I misunderstood your comment about a suspension genius. After reading again just now I realized what you meant. I set up my suspension on my Harley dyna after i installed the ODC 2.0 Monza inverted forks and the ODC Monza rear piggy back shocks. My buddy from Harley helped me dial it in. Not sure if we did a perfect job. But we dialed the front and rear sag between what the specs said to be 25-30 up front and i forgot what the rear was. And i was still playing around with the compression and rebound before the season finally ended. We used the Motool to help us dial it in. I did some adjustments on my S1000R, S1000RR and 1299 but I know I didnt dial the suspension in even close to perfect. Thats why I bought the motool to help me with the numbers.

The manual says fork oil should be changed every 36 months. I bought the bike in Feb 2016 as a 2015 left over the dealer got in June 2015. So the fork oil hasnt been changed since. And from what I understand the front fork springs are designed for a rider 160-180 lbs. Maybe 190. Im 210-215. So right there are two issues needing to be solved. Fork oil and correct springs. so when I order the FGRT forks they will install the correct springs for my weight and charge for the springs and install which wasnt that bad considering the work they have to do to build the forks with correct springs or rather maybe replace the springs that are in the forks.

If you dont mind shoot me a PM with Dave Moss's info so I can contact him and have him help me dial in my suspension like he did for you. Although I may have him help me on the harley too. And maybe the other BMWs if I dont pick up his techniques on dialing a suspension

That fork oil is probably black

This ones a good read:
