Looks like there are 3 special tools shown in the manual to remove the Flywheel (on 1199). Available from both Ducati and HDESA for similar prices (too much). Is there any way to get away without 1 or more of these tools or maybe there's another similar puller that works that someone has found?

1.) Alternator cover puller (Does the case cover really need a puller?)
2.) Flywheel puller. Seems kind of special sized, but maybe there's an alternative?
3.) Flywheel holder tool. Any other way to safely hold the flywheel than a $60-$90 tool?

If I felt I would use these more than once, I guess it's not so bad, but I plan to pull the flywheel exactly 1 time in my life.

I just decided to switch the flywheel on my CF pani 1199S.
Please see attached pictures which tools are required. Without them, it's going to be really messy and chances are high that you harm your engine while hammering on everything :)

I bought an R/SL flywheel last year, mainly because of weight reduction:

1199 Flywheel: 1900g
R/SL Flywheel: 1116g

There are some good old threads on here discussing pros and cons if you've planned to exchange the wheel.

Pictures: special tools highly recommended, heavy flywheel, light flywheel, removal of main nut
