Some brake pads state very clearly, "for track use only, do not use on the street". I can see why this would be the case if the pad compound needs to warm up before it reaches its target friction coefficient.

However, for 3 years I've used such "track use only" pads on my 1299S - Galfer G1300. I've emailed Galfer asking why I shouldn't be using these as street pad, but haven't gotten an answer.

To me, the G1300s are a slightly more aggressive version of their street/sport G1375 pad. Other than that, I haven't noticed any difference and certainly no areas where the pads don't work as well.

So...what gives?

Apart from the lack of heat creation on the street for optimum friction, its probably just
something simple such as they havent paid a test/licence fee somewhere for street approval,
technically making your vehicle illegal for street use. ie not DOT/TUV appoved.

well, considering I've remapped the fueling, completely removed the PAIR system and the charcoal canister, eliminated the catalytic converters...illegal brake pads are the least of my worries lol

(bikes are never inspected where I live anyways)
