What's the lowest people can run their bikes, before they cough?

I've pulled between two and three litres out of my tank, once it has coughed.

In that area, I had about 3 minutes on the track before starvation started after the light went on last weekend. Takes about 6-7 liters / 20min.

Glad you posted this as I was discussing when talking about my race weekend, the COUGHS were scary at full gas and resulted in me haveing to cut 2 races short. I need get a baseline for pump gas//race gas for sprint race + longer races - 20 min GTO (in ASRA/CCS). Track day session 15min is a good barometer for sprint race. Even on track day I put in minimal amount of gas before every session. On longer stints I may bneed to gas tank foam as I have had issues with too much gas thru overflow when full on hard braking.

Yeah, I was speaking with Motorapido, they have tank foam, and say they can run as low as 200ml. But, I didn't confirm if this was on track, or just warming the bike up or something.

My fuel light works well though, and I can usually get nearly two laps before it starts coughing.

That sound like a good idea!, please get back if you try the foam. I was almost also catch from a slip streamer when my coughing started on the long straight, just at the acceleration out after a sharp corner...

How many litres would you normally allow for a 20 minute session at, say, Donington Rick? 2.5 litres is a fair bit of extra weight to carry in the racing game

I know 😭😭

I don't usually monitor my fuel level on a track/practice day. Until the last session, when I do my fuel calculations (as I'd usually be closer to pace).

But, usually, get two sessions, then refill.

20 min is 6-7 liters. I normally start with 10 liters and then fill up 6-7 after every outing.

That gives you the mystery three litres...

Yes that is the trick!, but feels stupid, could be nice to gain 2kg and just have one liter as a backup. I used up 33 liters on track Saturday. Rather thirsty lady...7x15min, minus some minutes due to red flags.
