Hi guys,

First of all sorry, if I am not writing correctly :)

Since I have a power problems with my bike and I did not solved them for too long and I am getting hopeless, nervous etc.
Let start from the beginning. When I bought the bike (summer 2020 from Canada) bike run well, but after two months, it start to lose power at 4 -5 000 rpm and when across it, continue to accelerate ( At race mode across it way much easier than rain mode, which was almost impossible). On Neutral, when I open the gas quickly, it goes to around 4 500 rpm and start "choking", but if I open gradually, it goes to the end....

Then I went to local official representative for diagnostic and only small errors shows up on the diagnostic. After clear them, on the test drive there, it runs well, but again it has small "thinking" at these 4-5k rpm. The mechanic said, that is something small (fuel, plugs, air filter..). The other information that understand from them, that the bike is software upgraded to Stage 2 and it was used for tack. ( normal, Ducati is the top :) )
So I clear the air filter, since it is K&N, change fuel, change spark plugs, clear the nozzles and nothing, same issue.... One thing are very strange, when I get little accelerate on spot at 2.5 - 3k rpm, the engine is unstable and turn off by himself.. The accelerate symptoms are still the same.

Then I decide to focus on the fuel pump. After I open it, clear the filter of the pump and change one of the ring rubber, which was deformed and put it back on and the bike does not start at all, ( before I went for diagnostic, I did the same with the pump, because, beacuse I made mistake and put fuel with ....., and I clear the fuel pump filter and the tank, but did not change the ring rubber! )..

Now, when I turn the key, I hear that sound that is working (loading), but it not start the engine and I am pretty sure there is not enough pressure, because I test it outside and there was none. Usually must be at least 3 bars and has to pump out with a lot of pressure.

So I will be very grateful, if you let me know can be changed only the pump itself, not he whole body?

Also there are some ads of fuel pump in ebay, which I am not sure are they useful at all. I am attaching pics.

P.S. Every comment or suggest will be highly appreciated! Thanks!

Yes the motors can be replaced we typically just stay way stocked on complete fuel pumps since we modify them to remove the paper filter. We made special tools to remove the lower casing where it clips together. I bought 4 feeler gauge sets and use them as tools to remove the casing. Once you pop the case loose you will see the pickup filter screen which can be removed and motor.

There is a paper filter in the upper casing (round) which can be removed as well but you will need a special hole saw to remove then the resources to machine a new cap to glue in place to seal. Recommend using the MWR sock filter once you got the pump back together a must have if your running a carbon tank.

This weekend I checked the motor and it is working fine, so I have suspicious that problem come from the fuel pressure regulator. Does anybody know how much bar should be 3 or 3.5 ? In ebay in Europe I did not found none for Ducati 1199...?

The pressure regulator is probably fine if you can hear the pump prime ignition on and its pumping gas to the injectors pump ok.

The pump make the noise of working and it makes around 5.5 BAR, but when I did some air pressure to the regulator, it closed at 1 bar atmosphere and it looks very very bad. I checked all sites for parts, but they let me know this is not for selling separately. I am thinking to try with same look fuel pressure regulator, which is for other type bikes and it work at 3 - 3.5 BAR and it has the same shape. I know that Ducati bikes dose not except compromise, but what are my other options, I guess new pump.
I am trying to understand at least how much BAR/ PSI has to be this fuel pressure regulator and is it worth it to make tests?

The best thing you can do is buy a couple spare pump assemblies on Ebay. I think I am up to 3 spares now never know when one will die.

I order a 3.0 BAR fuel pressure regulator, for the previous models Ducati used that one. I will inform here what will be the result, if someone has the same issue.

The best thing woulda been if someone that put a gauge on a good pump posted the pressure here : )

Im w you sisco, why swap out entire pump if all that failed is the regulator?

My only concern would be if I wasn’t sure what pressure was present when my bike was tuned. Half a bar is 7 psi and maybe that effects tune???

Yeah Siso contact Don14R he is the local resident mechanical tech he has rebuilt these pumps, has the spare parts and the tools to pull them all apart as well.

You’re the one with 3 spares...

One would think you would know how much pressure they put out

*oh yeah I forgot... yer not a gear head. Yer a fiberglass guy smoked outta the game from all the fumes lol
