Gas bubbling sound and strong gas smell after first long ride

Well yesterday I rode for about 3 hours (first ride on the new bike). Afterward I went back into the garage maybe 15 mins after turning it off. The entire 3 car garage stunk pretty bad of gas and there was a gurgling sound coming from the tank. I opened the gas cap to see if maybe pressure had built up. There did seem to be a bit that was relieved but the sound did not stop. This went on for nearly an hour.

Seems pretty strange and stinking up the garage badly is not something I want to experience after every ride.

Any thoughts? Clogged breather hose maybe?

Both of mine smell of gas in the garage after running and both have full systems with the charcoal canisters removed. This has been the norm for years on the 1199 and now the V4R.

Now the sound Im not sure what that is. Mine does not make any sounds when its turned off.

The gas can boil sometimes when it has been sitting over a hot motor. I've heard it on my old Monster and now the V4.

I thought I was going crazy! I remember when I did the after market gas cap, it was seal correctly and no smell. However after installed full exhaust with removal of carbon canister it smell like gas in the garage.

Phew...I’m not the only one...

I would still be concerned with it.
What are the possible dangers?
Talk with the dealership, address your concerns.
Shouldn't be something to just accept.
I mean, our bikes have character, but this sounds like it could be dangerous.

After the first ride of this past season, my bike stank up the garage with a gas smell. I didn't hear bubbling in the gas tank, but I could have just missed it. I checked around the forums and asked the dealer, with no conclusive answer. It has only happened once, so I've attributed the gas smell from me overfilling the gas tank prior to storage. I'm careful to not fill the tank too high now and haven't had gas smell issues since.

I experienced the same issue with you today after around 50 miles ride (warm weather, 68 degrees). I heard obvious strange sound from the gas tank after I turned off the engine, like fuel bubbling. The garage was full of bad gas smell. I opened the gas cap and no pressure relieved. Of course, the sound didn't stop. This was my second ride and there was no issue last ride (around 10 miles in 50 degrees). Very strange.

I havent heard the bubbling again although it’s been fairly cold. I’ve been on maybe 4 rides since. It always stinks the garage a bit but nowhere near as bad as the first time.
