Gas from airbox

Anyone ever experience gas coming out of the airbox? After a ride today I noticed gas dripping from underneath the bike. Pulled the fairings and as far as I can tell it's coming from the airbox. Could it be excess fuel when the bike primes itself during starting?

It's probably the plastic fittings that bring the fuel to the injection. FIRST thing I changed on the my 1199s was those OEM plastic parts......

Could also be some overfill from the tank through the breather hose to the charcoal canister and from there downwards to the bottom of the bike.

you mean the quick coupler? what did you change it for?

It's hard starting too after a ride. I will do the charcoal canister mod. Thanks Phil

I would check the plastic coupler under the tank. If its hard to start you may be getting air into the fuel lines and therefore the bike will effectively be bleeding itself prior to it starting. Whatever the case, I would prop the tank up slightly and run the bike whilst observing. If there is nothing then I would switch off the engine (leave the ignition on as it will keep the fuel pump working) and observe again. Hope you get it sorted soon, as fuel pissing out all over the place is never good.

It was a broken coupler, spraying gas everywhere. Did the canister mod while I was at it.

is that metal upgrade ok for the tank?

It looks like a nice $50 mod to upgrade the fitting.

the fitting is in between 2 sections of the fuel hose, not on the tank directly.

Nah, took it to my local Duc shop which is closer. They used a metal coupler this time.

Thanks, any pics of this installed into position? I still am somewhat confused because of the threaded end , does that not go into the tank directly?
