As the owner of a hairy chested 2018 that was fully uncorcked with an SLR tune, I looked on as reports came in of how the 22+ bikes were much easier to ride. The easier to ride part in itself didn't appeal to me as much as my challenge putting down top speed on my 2018 - I could barely get 165 on the back straight at COTA: the bike was very hairy/trigger happy/jumpy/lurchy at high speeds.

So I went back to Frank at SLR and he gave me a new girls map - the 2022 map with the throttle restrictions left in place for first 3 gears. As best as I understand it, its the same SLR 93 pump gas map for the V4 with "2022 TPS tables superimposed"

I was at COTA yesterday and let me tell you - its much easier to hold it wide open! I was regularly hitting mid-high 170s on the back straight and I was riding 7/10ths. I will be pulling the AIM data to analyze further, but just for top speed, the 22 map is indeed much easier on the operator.

I had a similar experience. I spent the weekend getting personal coaching from one of the MA racers (highly recommended for anyone considering it). He rode my bike on full and came back saying “I think that’s the fastest I’ve ever gone on a motorcycle.” He then suggested we take power out to make it more rideable, so we changed it from ‘dynamic’ to ‘smooth’. Rode it again and suggested we try it in ‘low’. Ended up leaving it there the rest of the time as the low power setting is definitely better for practice.

I’m almost certain I’d run a faster lap on ‘smooth’ than on ‘dynamic’.

Sorry i missed you this weekend buddy. Always room in our garage if you need space. :)

Ain't Frank the best?? I went through 5 or so iterations before the delivery was smooth enough in the first three gears as well! I still have the fully unrestricted race tune, but every time I try it, I end up taking it out as it’s just too beastly and I don’t like driving with wheelie control activated all the time takes some of the fun out of the ownership a little bit…

What a sad bunch of losers, you'll never win Pinks Canyon In cripple mode
So in low power mode ducati claims 150 HP (low power mode gives you about 60% throttle). So 150 crank is 135 rear wheel or about the same as a 998/999. I guarantee you would be faster on the 999 which is both lighter and shorter.

think it is time to jump to a 23 model

It is just superior

Can do the same lap time a lot easier, and if you push, there is a second or 2 more, if you are willing to dig deapper.

I come from a 19 V4S, so know exactly the felling

whoosh

Low!?, I was struggling to keep up with the R6-guys at Brno in that mode....
