Well finally got some decent weather here in the UK to put some more miles on the Tric. Did 150 today around Wales, so thats the good news.

The clutch getting harder and harder until it was just sticking like hell when pulling it in was not so good. Then it would behave like normal, then in traffic go back to almost feeling like it was catching on something. I stopped and tried tightening the nut that holds the lever on but it didn't seem any better. seems like a bit of play vertically in the lever. Funnily enough i had a new master cylinder on my 1198s within two weeks of delivery and then was plagued with clutch problems due to poor plates after that. I hope this isn't a repeat. once the bike was home it was back to normal again after it was cool. It also seemed ok once going quick. It goes into the dealer next week for tis 600 miles service, 70mm manifold and extras. While its there they can sort it I hope! Also switch the F to P setting coz my backside can't handle another pothole.
Any other clutch issues anyone??

Anyway nice day out though.

Sorry to hear your having issues with your clutch.. My 1199s w/abs clutch has been spot on along with effortless shifting... I picked up last Wed and have approx 500+ miles on it.. Will get the service done this week and will update if any issues..

Nice back drop Balla lake :) I am waiting on exactly the same bike and your pictures made me smile. I used to work in between Bala and Corwen so holds a special place for me. Good luck and let us know how you get on with your clutch?

Great pics.

Sorry to hear about the issues. Hopefully it's something simple.

My wife is from Southport. We visit fairly often. I'm amazed at the dedication of the riders over there. No matter what the weather people are always out on two wheels.

I'd love to ride the Lake District.

someone else mentioned te same thing,i think they said the dealer replaced the master cylinder and that fixed it.
cheers burty.

Yes I read that but his lever was actually sticking on releasing the clutch, mines the other way round, it's on pulling the clutch in, anyways I think your right, a new master cylinder is a good place to start.

Yes it is indeed, I spend a fair amount of time around there as I go salmon fishing on the Dee at Corwen.

Bala as you know gets full of bikes come summer and most use the traditional routes to get there through Ruthin, or Corwen but the higher level of bikes means a high level of police looking for dark visors (tick), loud cans (double tick!), speeding (tick, tick, tick...) so I avoid the weekends on those routes if possible. This route has none of those issues and has a road that while it can be a bit tight and the surface has seen better days in places, has amazing views and it's always quiet.

Its the Bala road from just south of Oswestry, brings you in round the back of the lake.

Talking of dedication, on the way back yesterday I had avoided the rain showers completely and then ended up in the mother of all lightening storms 5 miles from home, got soaked through and the bike is in need I'd a serious clean. I have to say this is my first Ducati with a hugger and I've never seen one spray so much crap from its back tyre everywhere!

The exhaust cowling holds mud like a dog bowl holds water!

hope you get it sorted out andy, riding in the rain sucks dogs balls.
cheers burty.

Andy1199, is that muck all up under the seat and on the pipe?

If so, it appears the rear guard isn't very effective. I get muck thrown out near the very rear of my Monster's seat but not way forward like it may appear on your 1199.

Does anyone have the carbon rear guard already fitted? Does it extend any further rearward than the stock?

Beautiful pictures though - both bike and background! I was posted at an RAF base up in Scotland back in the early '80s and aside from the sheep and the rain the roads and rides up there offered some great adventures. I also visited Great Malvern a few times but never had the chance to ride Western England, The Midlands or Wales, though I've driven them in a cage many times.

Thanks again for posting the pics. I'm hopeful to hear about the scheduled arrival of my Tricolore today...

Andy I know that back road from Oswestry very well and a mighty fine road it is! I used to come in that back way some mornings from Halesowen and the fog was down it was ninja! I know the camera van likes to sit on the bridge above the A41 by Chirk too. Dibble is only too keen to pull over 2 wheels at any time of the day up there. Post more pictures as there is still no news on when mine is coming yet :-( Thank the Lord I can drowned my sorrows in Ibiza next week crewing on a yacht that is going back in the water :D

Yeah two hours cleaning today it's now back to new-ish. The carbon hugger is shorter than the original and starts quite narrow, I think it's the 200 series tyre that does it and yes it sprays crap everywhere up in the pipe and under the seat.

I have to say that all the stuff regarding paintwork on the tank appear true too. Loads of small scratches and a few deep-ish ones today to polish out, most have gone, it's like the lacquer isn't deep or hard enough.

I hate the look of tank protectors but looks like its going to have to have one.

Riding with lightening flashing all round you sucks balls even more!!

Now then, what really sucks balls needs a new thread. The clutch is a problem and Ducati are aware. See new thread.
