Great video of 1199R

That is a good vid, thanks. Love the Stereo Pani's.

Another good one from CoTA under someone who gives it some proper stick:

ISMAEL BONILLA- DUCATI PANIGALE R 1199 - CIRCUIT AMERICAS AUSTIN - 19/03/13 - YouTube

Ismael Bonilla onboard for several laps in full, back-it-in 1080P goodness. Enjoy!

Interesting to see he's only hitting about 285kph at the fastest part, and in the first vid the rider barely touches 290 in the draft, and the shift lights aren't even beginning to light up yet. Not sure who the Motociclismo guys are, but Bonilla races a Pani in the Spanish Championships and has done time in 250GP. So I'm thinking those journo's like the one in HFL who said they were hitting the limiter in 6th must truly be Gods. Or just can't count past 5...

he sure looks no slouch to me... surely knows some trail braking... :)

i don t see much weaving either... or did i miss it? some headshaking under braking, yes...

Pretty intense videos!

Is his back tire breaking loose or is he doing some sort of trail braking?

Nice Videos - no sealer or patches .. must be nice

probably a bit.. more likely just the front coming up a bit.. I run my steering damper a bit tighter so it is less noticeable but too tight and you can't feel the suspension as well..

All I kept thinking (as a Texas track rider and not having been on COTA yet) was.. wow.. where is all the sealer and patch work in the cement .. what that must be like LOL..

Regards,

Affirmative if you mean the head wagging under braking on corner entry. Watching Pani vids with fast pilots, you see them countersteer under braking on entry when the rear is drifting a bit, and then some head wag on exit, which is usually due to skipping the front end under accel. Not always though; some of the real speedsters are spinning it up, doing the dirtbike thing and countersteering off the corners with the throttle open.

For an example, check these from Niccolo Canepa, who's teamed with 2012 World Superstock runner-up Eddi La Marra on Team Barni this season (he rode WSBK in 2012 and broke his leg). Interesting to compare the onboards from the journo's at CoTA, some of them very good riders, to the National level guys like Bonilla, and then a true WSBK-level guy like Canepa who just canes the hell out of the Pani like it's a 450 dirtbike.

Latest one from Imola; it's funny at the start since he gets nailed by the marshall for his Gopro - won't let him on track with it. Had to sneak it on track and install it out of sight! :p

Interesting there haven't been any good onboards from Hayden and Spies at CoTA; would have been a great opportunity for some wheel to wheel action like the first vid in the thread, just with the official flagbearers flying the flag. Wouldn't be surprised to see some nice, polished ones out later after mucho post-production.

Neither of 'em were running cameras on their bikes. If they were there they weren't GoPros, that's for sure. DDA is all the data I think they were after.

As for the weave, it's there. Perhaps at 160+ it feels like a lot more than it looks, but it's there. I think it's just what happens when the front wheel hovers off the ground under acceleration. If you've ever been in 1st gear on a mountain or road bike climbing a hill you get the same kind of weave. There's just enough weight over the front to send you in a direction you might not want to go, but not enough to feel planted. Under braking or off throttle there was no weave.

Haven't had time to look through and cross reference those photos, Kope....haven't forgotten, just haven't had time.
