As title says had a bit of a moment this morning..

I know what caused it.....Cold tyres......cold engine......wrong gear.!

Anyway 200m from home I have to turn left...

I had the bike in second gear but as it was cold the bike stuttered and cut out mid corner ( tight corner) which locked the back wheel so it slid.....

I pulled the clutch and it straightened up where I dropped the clutch again and it refired and drama over!

What did I learn.....it isnt my ZX10R!

Got to be in the right gear especially at slow speeds.

The one thing I liked better about the 899 is the lower gearing. Little easier to launch and wake up to. It's not like I am using the 160 mph limit in Southern California commute.

that happened to me once, the first week I had my bike. Slipper clutches don't work at slow speeds, I now know :p

another moment I had in the first couple weeks of ownership - bad headshake. I haven't had a tank slapper moment in years, n bikes with or without dampers. It's just that when I was first exploring how much outright acceleration this baby had, I hadn't locked in my legs properly and so hung on the only other way possible - tightening the grip on the bars. And there's your head wobble moment :p

You can bet your ... I've figured out where my legs and knees like to lock into position on this bike now....

You made out better than me. I tried to do a 90 right turn (15 mph) in third gear in my community just a few days after I got my R and got dumped on the street. Had to replace my left mirror. Yep, she's not very happy below 2500 rpm. Bad Harley habit.

<cringe> in situations like that, at low speed or at a standstill, I've been known to throw my body under the bike to protect it from the ground. Have broken ribs to prove it too! :)

Glad it's not just me! I dropped the dealers demo on my first test ride in similar circumstances (having never had a problem in 3 years with the 1199 Tricolore). Luckily, they didn't charge me for the damage as I bought a new one! Good guys, Ducati Leeds.

I haven't had a stall, but I do feel like on slow tight turns I have to keep the revs up and modulate the clutch.

Low end fueling was better on my 999, no issues at low rpm in 1st & no clutch. My GT used to be that way until I put in a 14T, replaced the airbox w/ pods and remapped.

Well I feel better now that it's not just me being a hmmmmmm ..... lol

Big news....got to work this morning without incident lol !

Yep, she's not a happy camper below 4k rpm:rolleyes:
Why do guys always refer to their bikes as "She" ?

I always like to say "¦ " I was riding 'him' hard around the twists and bent over on the straights to keep wind drag at a low "¦"

"¦.Sounds better i think"¦

if i say my bike is "he" and let say "i ride him" then i would be seem like a gay (nothing against gay )

I see your point, but these are new times and men shouldn't have to feel embarrassed about using gender connotations in their Onomatopoeic descriptions"¦ Technically the other term seems a bit more ....-erotic as you the rider are on the bike "riding" the bike"¦
"¦Giving rise to the modern day industrial pegging if you will"¦.
