Headlamp swap.

Im curious if anyone has thought about changing the 1299 base model headlamp out for the S model LED headlamp? If so is it plug and play or do you have to splice in HID relays? Does it have a different bolt pattern on the sub frame mount?

Probably the same as the 1199. If so, you can splice the wires and solder them together. If you want to spend a fortune, you can get the harness and it's plug n play. I could be wrong though. I spliced the wires since I sold my base headlights so I have no intentions to ever ditch the LED or sell the bike. Worth the $300 I spent which was the net difference after selling my base lamps.

If you ever going to mod this head lamp would you mind making a video in detail on how you are installing so i could do the same for my wife's bike?

Theres already a few threads on the 1199 conversion, which is around 90% the same apart from the sensor brackets and the 1299 removal proess.

I used a new OEM plug from Corsa Technic, LLC Motorsport Interconnect Products, Motorcycle Connectors, Sensors. Cut loom, terminate plug and connect( plug cost about $20usd) Looks like OEM.
Later I modified the plug wiring with a diode so Low beam stays on during High beam.
