It's over 100 degrees, and I'm freezing!!

What's all this about burnt thighs, cooked legs, rump roast? For fewer bucks and less of a headache, I stopped the heat in its tracks.

Well, mostly...So I still feel a little 'chestnut roasting on an open fire' and maybe occasionally, I make S'mores with marshmellows melted on the cylinder heads...but for the most part, I cleaned up the HEAT and the LOOK.

Solution? Ceramic coating.

Killed two birds with one stone. Heat dramatically lower--low enough to lose the heat shield. And it sure cleans up the look.

Yeah, the heat shield originally on the bike was pretty descent, and the extra one it came with (to fit the Termi's) might have been even better, but the ceramic coat brought the temp to at least the same level as (FEELS LIKE LOWER THAN) the updated heat shield....

...And my foots not on fire anymore (despite my Alpinestare Supertechs).

So FWIW, I'm happy with the color, the temp drop, and the cleaner look, and, unless I move to Phoenix, Arizona, or Dubai, I may just let the amazing new heat shields keep the garage a little cooler.

Jet Hot Coating flaking off

My black Jet Hot coating is peeling off. The heat exiting the rear cylinder must be too much for the coating to handle.

energy is conserved, anytime you change the heat mapping, the heat is still produced and has to go somewhere. I would take measures to reduce heat where it would burn me, but for the most part I'd rather maintain the original heat mapping of the bike as received.
