Heat under the seat

It can get warm.

My solution below. Still gets warm but not near as hot as it did.

What did you use Charlie?

The specific material in the photo is heat shield from Moose Racing
Moose Racing Heat Shield - BikeBandit.com
Used it since I had a bunch laying around my shop. There's a lot of vendors making similar stuff.

Just took the square sheet and measured/cut it up to fit.

Not a complete solution - you'll still feel some warm - but it relieves that feeling of someone holding a blowtorch to your backside. :)

Charlie, do you have all the engine and revised exhaust heat sheilds in place? The reason I ask is that I never had them installed cause I test rode a 13' with them and felt more heat on my twig n berries. I feel heat more on my right leg and I was ok with that as I didn't want to cover the beautiful engine with plastic covers anyway.

how true it is that the seat overheats to the point of being very uncomfortable?

From my experience with the 1299, there's A LOT of heat on the right side, just below the seats. It gets hot enough where I feel like it's burning my inner right thigh.

^ Agree with this (on the demo ride), but it does seem to get better as the bike breaks in and doesn't run quite as hot, in any case as long as I'm moving I don't notice it, I think this is kind of overblown

Nope. No revised heat shields. I have the original '12/'13 manifold shield and bare heads (no plastic covers).

Don't like the idea of covering up the heads and reducing airflow. And I thought the revised manifold cover was too ugly. And the heat has never bothered me much anyways. Only reason I treated the seat in the picture was because it is the thin original stock seat and would get a little warm. Didn't have the problem with the comfort seat since it was thicker. But I sold the comfort seat (didn't like the height).

The heat these make (in general) just doesn't bother me much. Yeah, it's warm. Hot even. Just doesn't bother me much.

Yes, in stop and go traffic in warm weather it gets almost unbearably hot. And that is even with the shrouds they added a couple of years ago.

I'm only at 66 miles and my average riding temps have been between 60-70 degrees. I notice the heat equally on both sides but it's been minimal. I'm sure stop and go when it's 90 out will be completely different.

Living in Canada I wish the 1299 would throw more heat. Lol. I can only imagine the heat being an issue in July for about three days.

If you are constantly moving above 60mph or in a race track, the heat is bearable however on stop and go traffic, there are times where in I really want to get of the bike .
