I'm pretty sure it's operator error, but I could swear that my bike is anemic at best... sigh. I have 640mi on her, and two oil/filter changes, but everything is stock (well, I do have different brake levers). It really feels like a CBR250, especially from at signal or stop.

Any of yous youts "feel" that you have similar experience? Does it "free up" after 1,000 miles??

If you think your 1299 accelerates like a 250, either there is something wrong with your bike or you've been on the worlds fastest 250s. Take it in. Or check to make sure you don't have a couple dead squirrels living in the airbox.

Hang on a minute . You can't be serious in asking this question .
We all know the 1299 is a serious bike if your bike feels like a 250 there is something wrong with it .
Take it back to where you bought it and get it fixed .

Is this supposed to be a joke? 1299 in wet mode felt like an R1 to sport mode when I test drove one last summer.

There is a twisty type lever on the right hand side of the handlebars.....

Twist that when the engine is running and it's in first gear let the clutch out....when the lights on the dash glow red change to second gear and repeat......

If you still think it's slow go to the hospital and have those huge testicles between your legs made smaller as they must be huge!

Well Senna/Rossi, you are used to piloting the most insane machines to ever grace this earth. Both your F1 car and M1 will easily trounce the 1299, so it seems only logical that your street machine would feel so slow.

I also believed that I received a dud as it did not accelerate like my 1199. I have a full akra system and rapid race installed now and it still feels slower. I believe that it isn't slower, it is just a .... load smoother. However I do think that spending 6k on performance parts should yield some noticeable gain. Need to run it against a new i4 1000 and we will then see what I have got.

How does the bike sound? Does it sound kind of muffled? Exhaust flapper valve could be stuck.....

Ok Serious answer from me....... got back to the dealer and ask to re ride one of their demos...

You can them compare more efficiently without messing about trying to diagnose a problem

Demo's are like rental cars though, they always go faster :D

Could be the quantum interference from those Schroedingers squirrels!;)

Dead squirrels wouldn't be living in the airbox......... they would be dead
