I had to remove the casing to fix a tiny leak. Washed the inside of the case then it down on my counter, next day I found the pictured o-ring. Anyone know if that o-ring goes in that slot?
I’ve been looking at the workshop manual and parts list but don’t see that it does, but the sizing of it fits the hole perfectly and all lines up well with it in, so I’m stuck.

Thanks in advance for input!

I don't recall seeing an "O" ring like that in the timing cover. The hole shown in the picture with the retaining clip that the primary drive sprocket shaft inserts into has a seal (not an "O" ring) beneath the clip. The water pump idler gear pin inserts into the remaining hole and it doesn't use an "O" ring... there would be no need for one. Are you sure that it wasn't something that was lying around on your counter that somehow found its way into the mix?

Yea it has to be something lying around, just have no clue where it came from. And also it fitting that hole perfectly didn’t help. Wanted to be sure before I put it all back together.
Thank you for the help!

The "O" ring looks to be about the same size as the one found on the quick-release fuel coupler.
