Having commuted on a Monster some years back and now (not commuting) with a Pani S, if most of your riding is in town, I would say don't do it. The Pani is an absolute beast of a bike and I love mine, but if there is one thing it is not (IMHO) ; it is not a town commuter.
If nothing else, the heat will get to you, even in leathers. I spent 10 minutes stuck in Petworth today and the bike reached 108c with most of that coming out on my legs. No burns but I cannot believe you will enjoy sitting there cooking.
Stick with the Monster for the commute, and have the Pani for the cross country riding.
