Hey all, so.....trying to avoid looking like an ... possibly. Picked up the 2018 V4S yesterday at the dealer. As part of my negotiations I had them throw in $500 worth of gear. Been off bikes for a while and didn't have anything. Figured I would need at bare minimum helmet and gloves and possibly jacket to ride it home in.

Problem is, they didn't have an actual "pro shop" - most of what they had was branded (Ducati, BMW, Triumph). I didn't want to waste the credit I had, so I took home a SPIDI Ducati jacket, some shorty Alpinestars Ducati gloves, and an AGV Ducati helmet.

SO......If you saw me in pseudo matching gear, not on track, would you think "Poser ......." or be more charitable? Trying to decide if I should buy some other stuff and either keep this in the closet or resell it. Thanks all!

Don't worry about what others think as there will always be opinions. That gear looks good and looks like it would great for warm weather. You might want a leather jacket and gloves that cover your wrist for colder times.

you can get the helmet wrapped pretty cheap.
As far as gloves and jacket, well I wouldn't wear anything less than a full gauntlet and a double stitched jacket.
That's just my own opinion.
Im in full gear at all times.
But as far as looking like a ...., well we ride Ducs we already do :)

HA, well I'm in Parris Island, SC on mobilization orders right now, but when I go back home to Tampa, cold weather isn't going to be much of a problem.

Thanks for the response. I really don't care what anyone else thinks, but I'm also conscious of not being (as an analogy) the guy who shows up to play tennis with the 100% matchy matchy Wilson gear right down to the socks, and can't play a lick. Cause that's my riding right now after selling my CBR1000RR back in 2012 LOL

Actually the matte black helmet is probably the one thing I would keep no matter what. Even came with a Piinlock 70 in the box.

Good to know that Ducati snobbery is alive and well HAHA

What did the helmet cost? I got one for x-mas and want to sell it. It’s the one with the flip down sunglasses inside right?

Yes, internal sun visor. Last years model I think. It was $399. Here's the label from the box if that helps...20210428_151956.jpg

I'd sell it all and buy non Ducati branded kit. Your tennis analogy was good

But, if you like it, then keep it.

If you like it and are comfortable, ride in it.

I tell my wife all the time, you ride for you, not some ...... down the road you don't know.

Thanks for the thoughts. I already ordered a Joe Rocket jacket that is military base approved just so I don't have to wear an extra reflective vest on top.

When I see people in branded stuff I think it looks pretty cool, to the degree I think about it at all. This is coming from a guy who thinks nothing of wearing anDucati jacket while riding an Aprilia Tuono, however, so take it for what it is worth!

So that's the thing...I like it, but it also wasn't my first choice, specifically due to what I outlined here. I negotiated this deal from a distance and was thinking they would have a pretty complete gear store. Otherwise I would have pushed for just knocking $500 off the price and I would just go by my own ...., you know? If the gear was all exactly the same without "Ducati" on it, it wouldn't even be a question LOL

HA, that's OK, I always wear my Ferrari underwear while driving one of my Mercedes!! j/k - I don't have any Ferrari underwear!!!

I often ride in a Klim mesh jacket... when I first got a sportbike I didnt even really know what gear was appropriate for touring vs riding a crotch rocket. Seems like any good gear is better than none.

I had Plus Racing put Ducati/Ducati logos on my custom made every day riding leather jacket. I see no issue with it. I love it. It's usually kids that talk .... about matching stuff and usually because they secretly want to do the same only aren't able to do so just yet. Some of the kids around me will talk .... if you even wear leather at all. I dress for me, I buy for me and I think it looks cool PLUS I'm protected. Full back protection, shoulders, elbows, full gauntlet leather n kangaroo gloves with knox palm sliders and boots every day. 2021-03-23_08.41.43.jpg

That's some sweeet looking (and very high end) stuff! Nice!

Gear looks legit, AGV is pretty reputable for helmets, jacket looks great for warm weather, so as long as it has good CE rated armor, I'd keep it. I don't really like branded gear, but if you already own it, I'd use it for now and upgrade it down the road when it's time to replace it. For me, it more about the ride, not how you look doing it.
