How do you remove The exhaust shield? (Heatshield)

No tank removal required for this but taking out subframe bolts vertainly made this task MUCH easier! If you remove these, remove all heat shield bolts, and unscrew the 02 sensor (which is on the cable) you can prop the rear end up with something and simply slide that sharp ass piece of metal out of there for good!
I personally used Mechanix gloves due to the sharp edges on the thing.

don't forget to un-do the ECU as well (remove right side fairing, un-do a few mounting bracket screws, plugs, etc.) as it will enable you to unscrew the o2 sensor helping to minimize the risk of damaging the attached wire/cabling.

well, he can remove it. that's the good news. putting them back on is a major pain.
for those, take the side fairings off, the 3 screws connecting the manifold with the mufflers, the 2 on the left and right above the back of the cans (which are a pain to put back in) and the 2 in the front holding the cans.
the can covers are just 2 screws and then pulling the sleeves forward.

Hmm. I didn't undo my ecu at all? And when mounting the carbon heat shield I just turned the cable in opposite direction ahead of time so it would be straight when tightened.
OP- Did you not mean the metal heatshield over header and mean the brushed aluminum piece?

I agree! I put on a full system, then had to remove it all to get the heat shield on... then once the shield was on, it’s so much harder to access the subframe bolts to tighten them down. I’m currently on a stress relief break so I don’t strip any bolts or mess something up, then I’ll go back and try to finish. Any tips for getting to those bolts with the big termi shield would be appreciated!
