I was inspecting the dry clutch and this is how the basket looks like post 3400km. How long do you think it will last or how much percent is left out of this basket?

here, dont know why the forum killed my image

The slamming force relative to the clearances plate to tang increases as the clearance opens up. I would not be concerned at all yet. I've run dry clutch baskets as long as 25K miles on the street (beltdrives). Keep the stack height constant and change the orientation of the friction plates (flip them over when you reset the stack height). They do get a tad noisy.

Thanks, Knowing how I abuse the bike on track, I guess this might last another 4-5k km. Lets see.

It'll be fine. If you keep the stack height constant the frictions will last a long time too. The pressure plate load is dependent on this. The clutch set steels have 2 sizes, 1.5 mm and 2 mm. When the stack height shrinks 0.5 mm replace a 1.5 with a 2.0. If this is your first dry clutch and you don't have any extra plates buy a replacement clutch pack and steal them out of that. The steels last forever pretty much and you'll eventually need the frictions.

Thanks. My steel platez are 2.5mm. I guess they changed it on the new v4r. I checked it with the guage today, and my friction were 1.5 and steel ones were 2.26mm. So I believe if they go down further, then only I will change them.

The thing that's important is you maintain the height of the stack so the clutch never slips on the drive. So check what you have now for the total stack against the clutch spec. I only have beltdrive dry clutches EVR slippers so maybe if Andy reads this he'll know what other steels are available for the R's.

I have the new plates. Will check the original size and post it here. But since the new size for each plates are 9x2.5 and 9x1.5, the size should be 36mm in general .
