My First post! Yay!

Well After 14mos of owernship, my 2013 1199s hit the desmo service. Light came on at just over 15k miles.
3 rear tires
2 front tires
3 right side lower fairings (Melting)
Water pump (leaked out weep hole)
150 tanks of gas
1 set of front brakes
Left hand control wiring harness
Wouldn't trade it for the world... Cheers!

It would be one thing if you were from Florida, but being in Chicago that is downright impressive!

Congrats and please report back on the cost of your big service. I'm more than halfway there at 8700 miles.

Good job! I'm not far behind you at 12K miles, but I've had my bike 24 months. Had two other sportbikes in the garage most of the time though, so that kept the mileage down a bit. Haven't replaced any water pumps or fairing bits yet, but am equal on brakes and wiring harnesses. In the lead on tires though; five sets so far and counting.

Feeling the same about the bike, too. At two years in I'm usually getting darty eyes for new and shiny things, but not so much here. Can't think of anything I'd rather climb on for some fun. At least not with wheels on it... ;)

That's very impressive and being in Chicago and having that many miles is just pure dedication

$1900 @ MCC in Villa Park, IL
16hrs labor @ $110/hr and a few extra for tidily bits.

Ducati Milwaukee quoted me $1800 and change. Went to MCC since it was just down the street from where I work. According to MCC this is the first 15K they have done on a Pani. They said they are starting to see a bunch of 7.5K services.

PS from what I've read in the service manual, the 30K service is worse.

$110 an hour for labor is a lot. Most here are $75-80hr at motorcycle shops. Even the Lambo dealer doesn't charge $110hr.

That's MCC for u. Motoworks or Milwaukee ftw!

Never been to Motoworks (they were kind of a dick to me on the phone once) Milwaukee is great. They did a bunch of work on my 749R Never had any issues with MCC. The $50-75 price difference was not worth trekking up to Milwaukee. Plus with their move, I'm not sure how backed up they are. YMMV

It's an expensive service. Ducati doubled the service intervals, but also doubled the price. Still worth it, imho. Just dropped the '14 I picked up on Thurs for the 1000km service today.

If the bike is out of warranty i might try doing the valve service myself. The motor can in fact stay in for the check and adjustment.

Does the tuneboy ecu tuner turn off light?

U can rent the tools. If its in spec your in luck.

My neighbor used to rip his monster apart all the time. Once u learn it its probably not that bad.

U have 2 shims per valve on the desmo engine. Thats why its more expensive to service. But some of these rates are insane.

Makes u want to take the time to learn.

Does that ugly icon remain permanently on the screen, or only during start up?

It is only there at start up. Then it shrinks to a little icon just like the side stand light.

Posted the valve specs on Ducati.ms
