got my 848 at 21, and now the Pani at 25... They're not that far out of reach if you know how to make a good deal...

I'm 58, been riding since I was 17....Can't get sports bikes out of my system.

Got my 1098S for my 50th birthday, picked up a 1299S this past weekend.

The 1299 will see more track duty than street, I have a Tuono APRC V4 for the street.

My 1098S has been my track tool for the past seven years, now it getting passed on to my 22 year old Son.

I still had my first bikes up till recently . My dad restored them for me maybe some other members might have had something similar .

Those photos bring back memories... The XR75 was my first bike back around 8yrs old.

Riding since I was 21, Ducati 848 at 29, Panigale S at 33, 2013 Panigale R at 35 and 2015 Panigale R at 36.

All depends on your circumstances, job, kids etc. and how badly you want one...... I am missing a left nut!

I'm 22 and just picked up my 1299. I owned my first sportbike at 15 a 2005 honda cbr600rr, a 2013 kawasaki zx6r 636 when I was 21, a 2014 kawasaki zx10r when I was 21 as well, and for my 22 birthday I got my ducati 1299. GED education, factory worker. Hard work pays off. 84 hour weeks do too. Anyone can have one.

22 Here.

ninja 250 at age 18 put 30,000 miles on it
R6 at 20. put on 12,000 miles
Hypermotard at age 20. put 30,000 miles, still have it.
Panigale 1199 at age 22. 6000 miles so far.

Now, 38 years old with a 1299. My First Duc was an 1199 in 2012 at 35.

27. Been riding since I was 15. Owned about a half dozen sport bikes, but my first Duc didn't come until last year.

Always loved riding. I've racked up more miles on two wheels than four.

35 next month. The 1299s I recently purchased is my first Ducati. I started street riding when I was 22 with a beat up Suzuki Katana 600. My bikes after that include a Ninja 636, CBR1000rr and 3 R1s. I thought about another R1 but wanted to try something new and the price difference was not an important factor.

I love the Suzuki RM 125.. I used to race one back in the day. Great bikes but they tended to seize pistons unless you ran them rich.. I also had an RM 250.. and a Yamaha YZ490.. The 490 was a wicked wicked bike ! Lots of power (but it did not like to corner well like the 250's) You just had to more or less point and shoot. IT was fast though. I ended up crushing my entire sternum and collapsing my right lung on that thing. I hurt to this day (31 years later) because of it but if I could go back and be 29 again I would do it all over again! It was so much fun back then..:D

Update 7 -7-2016

What used to be a fun bike has turned into a nightmare.. **It died on me at about 45 mph yesterday wile approaching a stoplight in second gear..
When I say die.. I mean Nada Zilch no engine running no electronics working everything goes blank I had to pull the clutch in to keep from having the rear come around on me because the rear wheel was locked up! It is running rougher and rougher..It even idles differently..It lopes heavily Even for a twin...Does not sound normal..
... Alas.. The dealer cannot "fix" it until it throws some type of code ?? (which has not happened yet)
I am 62 and have been riding bikes of some sort for over 46 years. Never have I had the problems I have had with this bike...
I have consoled myself to the fact that I will be stuck with it until it either breaks (and they can tell what is really wrong with it) or until I end up wrecking it when it suddenly dies on me at the wrong time in an intersection etc...
If I end up hurt because of this bikes issue I WILL have a SERIOUS lawsuit with Ducati... It is well documented on this site all the crap I have been through and I literally have a stack of repair orders from multiple visits to the dealer trying to get multiple issues with the fueling fixed..

It is ironic that the damn thing has to actually break before they can even get an idea of what is wrong with it.

I asked in your other thread, but you must not have seen it. What did Vito say after riding it? You mentioned that he was going to.

I asked in your other thread, but you must not have seen it. What did Vito say after riding it? You mentioned that he was going to.

I did not answer because it is plain to see that there will be NO help until it actually breaks down..

Vito just rode it primarily on the freeway and stated that it was more or less normal (and that the bikes all have some surge to them).. Maybe that is true however I have riden their demo bike and also a friends and those bikes did not come near what mine is doing at lower speeds in town...:(
Yes they all seem to run a little rough below 5k rpm at slower speeds but mine does it pretty much anytime you want to hold a steady throttle. The funny thing is, When I first got the RapidBike unit for a while it had cleared it all up and it was running fine. I could go 45 mph in 4th gear at around 3300 rpm and it would just purr.... Not anymore.. with or without the RB unit connected it runs like .....
** I asked Vito to ride it around town at lower speeds to see how badly it runs (between 25 to 45 mph) However he seemed to concentrate how it ran on the freeway more that anything
At least that is what he related to me.. I am NOT happy with it but have consoled myself to the fact that they are not going to do anything for me until it literally breaks down... The day he rode it was of course not running as badly as other days.. Some days are worse than others I am not sure why. (yesterday it died on me big time at about 45 mph and I had to pull in the clutch to keep the back end from locking up.. When it dies EVERYTHING goes out The motor the dash EVERYTHING.. ! It seems like it loses vacume suddenly and cannot keep up (but that does not explain why the dash and everything else goes off also..?)
**I was still coasting when I pulled in the clutch and hit the starter then it fired right back up...Go figure?

**Vito mainly rode it on the freeway (just like the mechanic did) ** The problem is most pronounced at slower speeds where the rpm is lower than 6K rpm.. 25 to 45 mph it is CLEARLY rough running even on its good days Yesterday 7-6-16 it ran terrible...
Of course he seemed to think it was more or less "normal" and said they can't do anything.. I just felt like a fool since of course since he is the owner and sat there with the mechanic during our meeting about it and did not agree with me .
I am sure they just think it is me being picky.. I guarantee you If they had to ride the bike everyday and THEY OWNED IT they would want it fixed... It is friggin dangerous sometimes..Most of the time it is merely very aggravating What else can I do..? I am just waiting for it to actually break so they can figure it out.. I am going to ride it until it breaks down then have them haul it in and fix it or replace it. The motor is getting hot (it got up to to 236 degrees yesterday) if it sits even just a couple of minutes in traffic.(I even paid extra for new SAMCO silicone hoses and new thermostat (didn't help)
When ti gets hot It really starts running visibly rougher and seems to not want to even idle smoothly as most Panigales I have seen.

It is a piece of .... right now.. probably something simple like a bad connection etc but until they fix it is is miserable to ride considering I have over $30k in it..

Oh well I got my complaining out of my system for a while..

Firstly girls own bikes too!
I lloved bikes from an early age, apparently my grandfather had many bikes he followed the TT etc. Well I hardly remember him as I was 4 when he died. No one else in the family had bikes. I learned to ride when I was 12, bought a new Fs1e (50cc) on my 16 birthday and passed my test same day! used to give my brother a lift to school on it.
Then took the big test on my 17 birthday and passed.
Riding legally for 39 years in October.
Bought my first Ducati in 2007 it was a Multistrada 1000sds, since then always ridden Ducati! Had 4 multi's, a Panigale 1199 and now the 1299.
Other bikes you turn the key and start the engine but turn the key in a Ducati and you bring it to life!!
If it's not s Ducati then I don't want it!
