I feel the same way, but avoided posting any of my thoughts about it because I know what kind of lame responses it would evoke from people here.
I'm a veterinarian so I am an avid animal lover and actually love animals more than 99.999999999999 percent of the human race....so I totally understand where you are coming from.

Wilkson is right. I traveled around many countries and some country eat dogs, cats, horses and etc. Pets in US have it good.

PS: I love all creatures and feel sorry for the deer too, but humans will always be first in my list of concerns. Something I always found surprising in this country (or Cali at least) is that often people take animal caring to the extreme but don't give a .... about their fellow humans...

human beings are a plague on the planet. Think about how long the earth has been circling the sun. Think about how long animals of some sort have inhabited the planet. Think about how long mankind has inhabited the planet.
having said that....mankind has been around for a miniscule amount of time and in that short time we have managed to trash our planet out of our own ignorance and greed.

With the advances in medicine people are living longer than they should
People don't know how to use birth control. Seriously sickens me that that mankind chooses to ignore the most important problem in modern society....overpopulation. The root of almost all other problems. Some people don't care....some people say it's their right to have as many kids as they want, some people are too damn stupid to use birth control....whatever the cause overpopulation is the result.
more people necessitate more food and more space. We destroy habitat that has been there millions of years to put up another road or building. We pollute, we fight cause we are overcrowded and can't agree upon a damn thing, we are a selfish and ignorant race. All people care about is people and mostly themselves. Most people could give 2 ..... about nature, animals, or anything other than how much money they have, how cushy a life they can live, and how much fun they can go have.
Everyone is guilty of it including myself.
I just get ...... pissed when people can't at least aknowledge that animals and nature are JUST as important as people. A life is a life and while we may be at the top of the chain (and yes I eat meat)....we should respect all life.
That is what is wrong with the world today......full of ignorant and selfish human beings

I agree about ignorant people not using brith control.. I saw the news few weeks back where one guy had like 22 kids with 16 women?....He said on the news that he is leaving his "Legacy." What Fking legacy?!? Oh btw, he could not afford child support so the Government (tax payers) is paying for the kids...
On the other comments you made....You may view the world where animals and nature is just as important as people, and maybe because you have a decent living and dont have to worry about bigger things... like how am I or family going to eat tomorrow.
not all (most) countries are not like that. We live in a country, where we dont have to think about How are we going to eat but What to eat. Picking what to eat seems to be the hardest choices around....And some pets in America eat more and better than poor people in some 3rd world countries....
You think they give a flying F* about nature and animals? Actually, they may do, since you can eat them if they can find it.
When your belly is full and have all the nice thing around for yourself, people start to ponder about issues that may matter (nature and animals), but not until all other serious issues are resolved in this world. And yes, we are selfish in nature and self survival is the greatest motivation to human beings.
Just my opinion.

^This. gnance - perhaps you don't know this, but hunters in general are the biggest conservationists on the planet. Because of the time we spend in nature, and the absolute respect we have for the animals we kill and consume, we dedicate a lot of resources to protecting the environment and are aware of more than most of the symbiotic nature of all life on Earth.
