I traded my Panigale :-/....
Ok, that's obviously BS...i'd never get rid of my 1199..and certainly not for the BMW lol.

Took the Pani in for warranty work, *mild oil residue by the upper head cover, *melted rear hugger and *possibly hot spot on my dash.

So as always, my dealer offers me a loaner bike usually for few hrs or a day...in this case for the weekend. I've taken out anything from a new loaded Gullwing to an MV Agusta and though I've ridden the bimmer before I chose it since they didn't have a RSV4 serviced and ready :).

I wont do an in depth review of the S1KRR since you guys have read all the professional feedback, i'll just give my 2 cents on the only thing I like better.

The QS on the Bimmer is a lot smoother at all speeds and though the exhaust is too quiet for my liking, I like the way it pops louder than the Pani when you QS. Yes I know, its an inline 4 and overall smoother engine so duh...just saying...

I still stand my ground, i'd never buy a S1KRR...the bike has no soul, I feel more drawn to my 600RR. The bike is all motor, fit and finish is cheap and not up to par with being considered an exotic.

P.S. why do they have so many different tire brands on the same bike? I've seen Continental, Pirelli and this one had Bridgestone.....smh

A 2005 CBR600RR is inferior compared to the 2012/2013 S1000RR in every way. And while it is a bit dull compared to a Panigale, it has more soul than any Japanese inline 4. Looking at your video, you're riding with the RPM's too low. Keep them between 10K and 14K on the next ride and then tell me it has no soul. You dismiss the S1K like it's a big 4 clone, but it's not. And you missed a tire brand, the Metzeler K3's which are great street tires. I have no brand loyalty. And unless you have stock in Ducati, you shouldn't either.

spent two days at barber at the code superbike camp on s1k, brilliant bike. I felt it was incredibly easy to ride it well. But you're right about the revving, since 80% of my riding experience is v-twins, it just takes getting used to an I4 that revs to 14k+, took me a bit to get the hang of that.

I have no stocks in Ducati, I just know what I like and I'll always have one. With that said, I'm still a lover of everything motorcycle and will hop on anything and ride it.
I did forget mention in this thread that the bike featured still had the 8K limiter on it, but I did mention it in the video. And I have in fact ridden one without the limiter and yes it was a beast...doesn't mean it put a smile on my face.
For some of us visual ... appeal plays a part in the thrill and the Bimmer doesn't appeal to me, sorry. It's got brute power, but still felt heavy.
The electronics are much improved, but overall package not good enough for my dollar...

Did you miss the part where said he was giving HIS opinion?

Fair enough. I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

You're absolutely right.

I agree with Ducenzo totally.

If BMW would quit ....... around and hire a design team they'd nail it.

S1000R is technically amazing, but aesthetically boring. Sorry S1000 lovers, but the bike does nothing for me and I live in Florida where I almost can't even ride my damn 1199 right now due to the heat.

I'd love BMW to bring some Italian flair to it. Jesus, wallet is waiting on you BMW dammit!!!

These are pics of a photo shoot I did of the best looking privately owned S1KRR I've seen...he's got every Rizoma piece in the book and more. Even his grips were custom fitted because at the time Rizoma didn't make grips for the Bimmer yet...AND HE DROLLS OVER MY PANIGALE haha.

btw, his alias is ANIMATED....so him and this bike are a match made in heaven lol.
