Greetings. I need help with the Shift-Tech carbon fiber subframe covers! I just received these and found that they ship with very unclear instructions that do not have any illustrations or photos, nor does the company offer any installation guide on its website. I've already contacted the owner directly for more detailed instructions, but received a rude response that did not address my concerns. So here I am.

Is anyone aware of an installation video or guide online? Or can any forum members who have installed these walk me through it?

Mounting CF

First - Congrats on buying (IMHO) the absolute BEST Carbon Fiber out! :D

Just dug thru all my Tricolore pics looking for the ones I took which showed EXACTLY how I mounted mine on when I did it, but as always when you are seeking something - they are no where to be found! LOL.

In a nutshell. what I did was apply all the included "Epoxy Glue" evenly upon the entire backside of the item, and then made sure to apply pressure over the WHOLE piece when applying it to the bike. Afterward, I used these huge "Clips" (Made by Craftsman in Photo) I have which are very strong, and buffered them by using a Micro Fiber towel so as not to scratch or crack the CF. I left those on overnight - doing each side separately so I was 110% sure that each piece / side was glued on appropriately ya know?

Did you already get yours on to your liking?

Are those your first / only Shift Tech CF items for your bike so far?

Thanks to both of you. I did search the forum at least a dozen times but somehow I missed that one post. They aren't on yet but I have a clearer idea now about what to do!

These are my first Shift-Tech items yes and probably my last. I expected them to be bolt-on or fuss-free installations. I work overseas and don't have a garage or much of a tool set, and I definitely not set up to do things like remove the shock or the fuel tank. I used to work a little on cars back in the day and I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty but not everyone has the time, tools, workspace or skills to do complex installations...

Sorry to hear this.
Feel free to ask again here as this site is great about helping its members out!

Check your Private Messages too if your familiar doing that yet here? ;)

Is this fitment right? I'm pushing the CF flush to the bike as much as possible. The shift tech piece overlaps the corner of the plastic panel and doesn't look right. It also doesn't do this on the left side of the bike.

Hey Brother.
Got your msg and will certainly pass your msg along , and must admit I'm sorely shocked about your story as well. I definetly agree with you my friend.

When it comes to the issue you're speaking about above, I cannot really tell by your pics what the main issue is you have- but it sounds like a fitment issue. Am I correct? Is one side not fitting the same as the other, I will admit I'm not 100% sure about the 1299 vs the 1199 so maybe I'll go take a look at mine again for you too man. Perhaps some more pics on them if possible D?

Hang in there buddy. This too shall pass . :)

Imported
I had the same issue with the set I got. I had to rellieve the corner quite a bit to get them to clear. A little file work and light sanding to smooth and blend the new radius. Probably not an issue without the cyl head covers on, but not possible to fit correctly with them as delivered stock on the 1299.

I had the same issue described above. I just filed the radius and all was good. Also I did not have to remove the shock or anything else. I just routed the back portion in first and then dropped in the front. Hope it helps.

I bought mine from Carbonworld.de, they fit perfectly.
I bought also their carbon glue.

Maybe a good alternative and they cost totally around 175 euro incl VAT and shipping.
For the US it is cheaper since CW deducts the VAT, which is 21% for the Netherlands.

Shift Tech Gear

Hmm, Im pretty sure I bought my side CF parts he's talking about from Shift Tech though?

I don't think there are many pieces of CF at ALL I didnt buy from him except my Custom Front Fender which was that POS Ducati included with the bike when i got it. lol.

Pretty big difference from that matte piece of plastic isn't it now eh? :)
(Yeah I know the pics are old, but best Hi Res ones I have of the bike period)

I told "Imported" that he should really just buy my bike, ALL Carbon included (BST Wheels too) and ship that to Thailand for himself all complete!
