Ordered up a 14t front sprocket 2 weeks ago and just installed it today. Pretty straightforward. Had to remove the left side rear set /shifter. But overall 15mins start to finish. Took a quick 20 min drive with the stock 15t before swapping. Wanted to compare back to back.
After a 30 min ride, highway and backroads. I noticed a few things. As expected, first gear feels quite a bit better. Very little clutch on take off and felt better. Especially slow traffic, parking lot turns etc. Highway, anything over 80 felt buzzy. However a quick twist of the throttle in 6th and it did pull hard... very! Pulled a few WOT runs. Traction and wheelie at 1. To be honest, i was kinda expecting a wheelie king on demand 2,3,4. But instead the bike actually felt slower...... yeah, I know. Defying everything I know. It was pulling hard, no question. But a roll on in 2nd 15t with both settings on 1 would loft the front end right around 9-10k and dance the front tire through 3rd. With the 14, same roll on it would lift for a moment. Then just rev to 14.5, shift and again same thing. Almost like I was not using the Tq of the engine. It’s possible that the rear tire was spinning. But if it was, I never noticed. I can see the 14t having an advantage on some twisty roads keeping the R’s in the upper range for feel.
But after I returned home. I swapped back to the 15t......Overall it just felt like the better gearing for my riding style.
Just thought I’d share my impressions.....

Ill test again after the Term exhaust, upmap and filter. It’s possible the torque limiting in the lower gears amplified with the lower ratio?

Cheers

I'm going to be judging my gearing choice at the next track day, that's the only place where I hit 160+ regularly and that should be toward the top of the rev range in 6th realistically. I won't be at any MotoGP tracks so 180 and higher is just not needed, especially if I can get a better drive off corners.
Everywhere else the shorter gears feel awesome, and with the OFT especially more so.

What's your current gearing?

Haven't done squat. Did the gearing change, went on a couple rides with the stock mapping, then loaded the OFT Stage I and had no issues in either case.
I was going to try a tire calibration to see if it improved the QS, but I'm installing the Cordona instead. I feel there is no hope for the factory QS in aggressive riding.

Did a Tire Calibration and QS still sucks. From 6th to 4th downshifts need partial throttle and above 6K rpm for some reason, while 3rd to 1st can be at any throttle any rpm.
BTW for anyone looking at the Cordona [email protected] is the official North America supplier and is setting me up at a good price. Made the mistake of ordering from a different (reputable) vendor 1st and was sent the wrong unit.

I did a gear change prior to my last race, i had to calibrate the tires. It works flawlessly now.

And how have you avoided the electronics issues many on here are reporting?

Simply doing a gearing relearn?

When I went to 14T front, the tire calibration function worked perfectly. Now that I just installed a 44T rear, it doesn't work anymore. The calibration process of maintaining the speed at 30 mph in 2nd gear for around 5 secs does complete successfully but the following occurs once I started riding my 2021 SFV4S (Euro 5) at highway speed :
  • Flashing Neutral light
  • Flashing DAVC status light
  • Steady MIL light
  • No gear indication status
If I restart the bike, or ride around at low speed for awhile (maybe below 45 mph), the errors sometimes go away but they will come back again once I either put more than 5 mins of riding on it or ride at higher speed.
