I was tempted to buy this:

Panigale fit-kit - Kriega

...but it notes it's not for the 1299?

I assume someone has figured this out. Right now I have a couple of figure 8 straps under the seat, but I'm concerned b/c the only thing holding the seat on is 3 plastic tabs.

I recently bought this but it didn't fit properly, different configuration to the 1199, so I sent it back and bought the ducati tail bag.

Ended up McGyver'ing my own with stuff I had lying around. Not much to work with back there.

Not perfect, but at least all the mount points are secured by a solid connection to the "frame". The front was straightforward, just used the standard straps supplied with the bag thru the seat strap mounts.

Had to get creative with the back. Cut off some scrap strapping, cut (melted) a 12mm hole and sandwiched between two washers thru that rear bolt. Given there is only one mount point I put in an aluminum bar to help mitigate the torsional load on the seat. Also used the figure 8 loop in lieu of the supplied straps.

May not be ideal, but at least my bag is secured to the bike's hard parts vs the seat.

You can also use the aluminum-ended straps and put some extended bolts on securing them to the seat lock. Same as the 1199. I'd recommend running the rear-most strap under the seat, otherwise too much pressure will be placed on the flimsy tab holding the seat cover thing in place.

Do you mean under and around the entire tail section or under the pillion attachment? I assume the latter (vs the pillion cover attachment).

The pillion on this bike is really flimsy in general compared to other Duc's I've had. Even the mounting tabs (mating and receiving end) are all plastic. I would never put a human person on one.
