lean surging

Agreed.

is there a reason to do 45mph in 3rd or 4rth???????? and need it to be smooth rolling on the gas when you should be in first ?

Ill cruise 2nd and 3rd doing 45, but I know where that shifting lever is to downshift if I need to roll up on the gas.

After doing 700 miles the last 2 days with 150miles over 100mph, 40 rain miles, and in 100f weather, the biggest problem of 45mph is the FKN heat coming off this oven. NOT driving it in the wrong gear.

Awesome bike. It did not disappoint and I'm not near as beat as doing he same trip on the 848.

Well to answer your question...
No reason to do 45in 4th gear at all.. I was just trying to explain how much smoother it runs under a load even down low at 3000 rpm..
This was impossible before I got mine fixed...
I personally don't care if everyone else out there is OK with their bike running like crap below 5000 rpm.. If you want to run down the street in first gear at8000 RPM go ahead. Just don't complain about the lousy gas mileage or the extra heat it is putting out..LOL

I just know what I wanted mine to run like and I finally accomplished it with the Rapid Bike module There is really no argument from me. Maybe your bike has no problem mine did. I just found a solution :D

Guys,

I ride my 1299S with the Full Akra from my former 1199 and original mapping, honestly I cannot complain about any bad throttle response or surging at lower rpm's nor at above 7,000 rpm. I added the sprint air filter later this year, since then, the engine feels even more powerful (but that's only my feeling).

Next week, I'll activate the DP OEM mapping for the full Akra, lets see if there is a further improvement in low load behavior or at full throttle.

Anyway, the performance is awesome and sometimes almost scary, combined with a 15/41 final gearing.

You are lucky You got one of the good ones..:D

If you had mine you would NOT have been happy with it if you rode it on the street.

The feel of the bike if an opinion for each rider. Some will say it's perfect, then someone can ride it and pick out a lot of issue's.

I tune cars for a living and can feel the differences, expecially in torque control throttle's. This bike has the same issue that I can easily feel. It bothers the crap out of me. You can feel the throttle body's being opened differently from the throttle input. and it will vary in different load situations. But I haven't read anybody complaining about it.

The Dragon Lady is race mapped and has a PCV with auto tuning which tunes her per gear and for about ten throttle openings per gear (I think). For those used to racing two strokes with flat slides her throttle is that precise. She is smooth from just over 2000 rpm in any gear as long as her throttle is used correctly. Disrespect her or her throttle though and she would have you on your ... probably just as quick as you can blink. She is an awesome ride, but demands attention and respect. :D

The "source problem" cannot be fixed.. it is due to the inherent design of the motor and the EPA leaned out tuning...etc.

I have gone round and round with mine in the shop over and over and over in the last year and there is NO fix from Ducati that will work.

Either the Rapid Bike or TuneBoy units will probably fix it for you.

Hey SLOW You are right on the money when it comes to the throttle input my friend!;) I have incessantly complained about it..! I guess I am just going to be tagged a "complainer or whiner" by others on this site but I really don't care..
I ma very disillusioned by the Ducati product.. I dreamed about owning one for years and when I finally got my "dream bike" it has turned into an nightmare of aggravating running issues...

radicule solution

I had the same problem at slow speeds.. and solved it by installing my device next to the dash and wired it directly to the battery... completely bypassing the ECU... the device is a Valentine 1 ;-)

I also have the HARD system in my helmet.

LOVE the BIKE !!!
