How good are the LED headlights? Are they bright enough? ( I did a search first, but only found LED conversions)...

They are sensational!

Very bright and very white. I find good distance and coverage.

The only lights that could be better would be Xenon lights in a car.

You will love your bike when it arrives, no fear!

In comparison to the 848.1098 series it's a massive difference. Can't really speak to 1199 non LED headlights but if they are similar to the older bikes then the LED gets you what I would term about 4 times more light. Note that that is a very subjective statement but that's how it feels to me.

Best motorcycle headlights i'ever seen. Great coverage, very white. You will love them. Far better than standard lights like my 996 or Tuono.

Anyone try and "cheat" and use H11 LED bulbs on the base?
I think the 30w are the brightest??

so I've ridden with a base model with HIDs and an 1199 with LED head lights. Both are just as bright, but the LED headlights have a much better beam pattern and light out put.

Sticking HIDs inside base model head lights will be like what you expect sticking HIDs inside non hid projector housings. Its bright, but the light beam isn't evenly distributed with a perfect light color throughout and there will be some hotspots

The LED headlights are like having real HIDs inside real HID projector lens, the light is evenly distributed and is clear with minimal hotspots.

Sticking aftermarket HID lights in anything is a bad idea. Ebay nonsense that blinds oncoming traffic. HID needs specific reflectors. And even properly designed BMW/Merc/Audi's are still fairly offensive.

But the Panigale S is the only bike I'll ride at night. The LED lights are THAT good. I hate riding at night.

On another note: Where deos oncoming traffic go when they're blinded by the light? Towards the source of the light, hopeing not to hit it. "If I'm 2 feet from that light, I'm on the road......right?"

Ask a city/county snow plow driver with those terrible new green/white lights. Plenty of head on splats this year for that very reason.
