Left hand thread?

The on-line parts breakdown for the gear shifter indicates a LEFT HAND thread at the pedal end - see item 16 in the attached thumbnail. (This would make for simple gear shifter height adjustment - just rotating the adjuster would shorten/lengthen the connecting rod and change the height.)

BUT DOES IT WORK?

The unit on my Panigale has a pair of Right-Hand threads. Do the USA / European models work correctly?

Has anyone adjusted their shifter height from the factory setting?

Prior to installing the DP rearsets, I adjusted my stock setting. However, it is best to leave the Shift Rod (18) to Sensor (20) connection unmolested. Adjust the length by disconnecting the ball joint (16) from the shift lever (13); loosen the lock nut (17) and adjust the ball joint to obtain the desired total shift rod length; therefor changing the angle of the shift lever (13) to the desired position.

With most other bikes, it is possible to just loosen the locking nuts at each end and turn the shift rod to adjust the shift lever angle. Unfortunately, the stock shift sensor on the 1199 does not allow for this option as it does not have a locking nut on the sensor end to secure the shift rod.
