My dealer has a leftover 2012 1199s. Do I see what kind of deal they will do, or do I just buy a 2013 or 2014? What should I expect them to knock off the sticker price $22,995?

for me it would have to be 3-4 less than sticker... otherwise I would go for the 14

I'm sure there has got to be some kind of financing deal they can workout. See if you can't get a extended warranty thrown in or something.

As far as financing, I have 1.9 right now with my diavel. They would have to do 0% to beat that. I'm thinking 19k. I know another dealer near me has all their s models on sale. What that means Idk they told me in an email.

Go ahead and low-ball them. Since you have a Diavel, they know that you're a serious buyer. My friend came up with a stupid deal to trade his '11 S1KRR in for a '13, and he called all the dealerships within 100 miles and flatly told them "the first one who says yes gets my business." The 2nd dealer he called bit on his offer.

Not sure where you live, but if your winter is harsh, most dealers know that this is the last chance to sell bikes before hibernating for the winter or hoping a Florida, California or Arizona buyer is willing to pay the shipping. They don't want to pay floorplan for 3-4 months, so they may do the math and take a low-ball offer. '14 bikes will show up in March so they'll get more motivated the later it gets. Lastly, Ducati will come up with a spring promotion to blow out the pre-14's. I bought my leftover '12 Pani in April this year when they offered 1.9% plus first 6 months payments. Ended up buying the $17,999 MSRP bike for $16,300 OTD, less another $1400 with the 6 payments.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!

It's definitely a buyers market now. Up here the rumor is that 14s will not be imported as long as there are so many 13s left. A leftover 12 would be from a later batch with less flaws.

If you plan on keeping the thing for years and years, a leftover is a smart choice. On the other hand, if you change bikes every 2 years, holding out for a 14 will be advantageous.

stay away from Portland OR they have a 12 S leftover.

Turn2/motocorsa, they are bad news. And its why they have a left over 12.

Played games with me, made a deal then broke it, and lied to me.

A dealer lie??? Surely not....:p

Well, I did just get the diavel in April. Bike before that 1 1/2 years. So yes I do trade bikes every couple years.
My buddy has an s1000rr, so needless to say he is trying to sell me on that. I'm gonna take his for a while again today to see what I think. It is butt ass ugly, though!

That fact they have a left over 12 shows they don't want to deal.

they have their 12 S listed at 23.998.

And I have no reason to make .... up about some dealership 600 miles away from my area.

So I ask you what is so hard to believe?

I believe his comment was in jest. Some dealers are great, some are terrible; we all have our horror stories and I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience with one as well. Team Mancuso Powersports Southwest in Houston served up the slimiest vehicle sales experience I've ever witnessed. Needless to say I purchased elsewhere but only after allowing them to waste my time with cheap used car salesmen tactics.

A 2012 S ABS? or not? leftover? I wouldn't pay a dollar over $19,495 for a leftover 2012 S if it had ABS. And by $19,495 that includes document fees, setup and freight. Having a 2 year old leftover the dealer doesn't "deserve" to make any profit. If they can't do the price I offered above then walk away.

I called the dealer that's an hour away. They told me $10,000 trade in value for my diavel. OUCH! The BMW dealer near me told me $10,500 is book value. Another BMW dealer told me book is 10k- 12500. I sent him pictures. My Ducati dealer with the leftover says, $14800 for a trade in value and they would drop the 2012 1199s to $21,000. When asked if that's the best they could do, they said yes. Told him I would be better off waiting for the 2014 and buy that. I did ask if I could take it for a ride, they said just give them a days notice.
What if I take it for a ride tell them they can have my bike for $14,800 and use the difference for a deposit on a 2014. In essence sell them my bike.
Would they do this?
Does this make sense?
