I have been a trackday instructor for about 12 years now. My first trackday bike was a 2007 GSXR 1000 - IMHO one of the best GSXR’s ever. But I blew the motor in 2015 at NCM (National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green KY)
My second bike is a 2016 BMW S1000 RR. Still have it and am still probably fastest on that bike. Tuned ECU/Full Race Exhaust/Ohlins - great bike!. In 2022 I was at COTA (Circuit of the Americas in Austin Texas); every time I’d hit that back straight, all the Ducati’s would just leave me sitting still….and I just couldn’t have that…So when the 23 V4R got announced…
In early ‘23, I went to my local dealer who is 3 miles from my office, he convinced me to put down a deposit, understanding that I could back out if i wanted. About July 23, the person who ordered before me backed out…my dealer called and said, “there’s one here now, do you want it?” I took one look and that was it. I figured I had one more trackbike in me (i’m over 60) so I might as well “Go big or go home”, so I wrote the check (uggh). And 2 years extra full warranty (just in case).
So I have #240. My bike has only seen the street long enough to get past the 600 mile service. All I can say is OMFG! I use mine for its intended purpose - the Track. As far as mods:
- The race exhaust
- Open dry clutch cover
- Gilles rear sets
- Motul 300V (I service as much as I can)
- Race plastics on order
- Some CF bits on order
Really, the bike doesn’t need anything else. I’m too old to race, and I’m not that good nor likely to get better. I’m respectable, and I can teach. Because i put down an exorbitant amount of money, I am taking my time getting acquainted with Little Miss Dangerous. I have yet to be on a track where I can stretch her legs, but DAMN. We are still getting acquainted.
