Long or short?

In searching for a carbon rear hugger, there are are options for a short or long version. I would just like a stock length replacement, but have no idea if the stock hugger is considered short or long. I assume the long would offer more splash protection. What do you all suggest?
 
long protects your rear lights from rocks cracking it. look at old posts in here been a problem.
