long trip with pani

My next long trip was to be on my K1300S, reading his thread really makes me want to take t the Pani, I think there would be times I would miss it. No heated grips/seat or cruise control, but major fun factor over the Beemer...

in terms of cruise control, i made the wire throttle keeper for my way up to indy, went pretty well. (thick wire around the throttle, bend it that it touches the brake lever from top.
cost me 0.

Yep antihero just finished an iron butt run on the bike 1000+ miles in 16 hrs I think. He is my hero, having done a 1000 mile weekend on the pani I couldn't do an iron butt on it and I've got lots of long distance riding experience!

It's me, I'm here. I'm going through withdrawals and the journey isn't even over....

Lesson of the story is: do what you dream about and do it with the person/bike/thing you love if you want to die without regrets. Oh yeah--and you'll meet some pretty ....... awesome people along the way. ('Sup Dr. J!)

Well said and I'm very pleased this pop down the road is living up to your expectations and giving you such a great experience.

I still remember what, a year ago, the discussions of 1199 suitability for such an expedition....... you were never gonna go for the multi though :D

i have read your thread on that other forum where you post pics of where you ride and the locations you've been by. question when you were in the new england area what did you like the most? Im 20 minutes NORTH of boston and i hate the city, put me on roads in NH and VT its all good, even parts of west mass are ok

I read damn near the whole thread (up to pg 45 I think) and it is truly a great read and insight into antihero's life. I highly recommend for anyone to read the thread. Thanks for sharing your experience hero. I'm gonna finish it tonight. If I open it now I won't get .... done.

On another note, it was sooo cool you got to meet some of my favorite members on this & other duc forums. Ie: flynnbulldog, the frog & RSR Racer. I always wondered what those guys would be like in person and you revealed that thru your threads. All wound up being exactly as cool and kind as I had thought they would be.

Can't wait to finish the it. Thanks again antihero.

I enjoyed it as well, I have added such a trip to my bucket list! What part of FL are you in? I will be on Siesta Key and Palm Beach for the holidays.

VT and NH were awesome, as was Maine. Don't recall much of MA other than interstate, lots of police and very few places to park my bike in Boston. Rhode Island was scenic, but I suppose Martha's Vineyard sticks out as my favorite place in the area (though not for riding).

LOL! I recall! 1000 miles on in under 24 hours (Austin to Scottsdale) proved the Panigale is more than enough of a touring bike. I rode the Multi in Austin and would jump on the 1199 in a heartbeat if I had both to choose from. The Multi impressed me, but it still feels like I'm on a bike, whereas the 1199 feels like the bike is me.

I'm glad you've enjoyed the trip. One of the things that stands out the most are the people I've met a long the way. I've said it before in the R/R, but if there's one thing that sticks with me more than anything; if there's one thing that's changed me it's the people I've met a long the way. 6 months and 15+ thousand miles might not have erased all of my cynicism, but at least I know that there are like-minded, good-hearted and genuinely awesome people out there. I've met more people who I'd consider true friends on this trip than I have my whole life.

Trauma: I'm on the other side of the US now!!!!

Hey Trauma, I'm on the west coast around Tampa. What way are you coming down? Sounds like you are gonna be on the east coast down near Miami?

Question? where did you go in maine, that might be my next stomping ground. I live in MA but can spit to the NH border so i hang in that state mostly, if you could give roughly what town or area you rode in Maine would be appreciated. Thanks bro
