Hi, everyone. I’m casually looking at getting a Ducati. It’ll be my second one - the first was a 1990 750 Sport. My last bike was a 2007 CBR1000RR. I’ve been riding since 1989. Started out on a 1987 Hurricane 600 back then.

I’m leaning toward a Panigale V2, but I’m still researching various models. It’ll be about three months or so until the weather is good enough for riding, so I have some time. I’m in Western North Carolina in the Appalachian mountains, and my intended use is spiritedly carving the curves. I live 10 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway and other curvy roads abound, too.

I intend to hit a dealership or two on January 2nd to get a look-see at the options - maybe in Greenville, SC and/or Charlotte. I’m open to any recommendations (or warnings) for dealers.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. :)

Welcome to the forum. It's always exciting when buying a new bike. So let us know what you get and post pics.

Tight twisties n usual canyon stuff, a v2 will be much better than the bigger brother bike. More usable power, more maneuverable and best of all, cheaper. If the Panigale styling was available in a 600, i woulda got me a 600. Even a v2/959 is overkill for most situations.

Splurge and bring home a 2020+ V4 and then try not to go crazy adding all the parts from the catalogue to it

Yeah, good luck not doing that...

Prolly get a 2012 1199 for less than 10; which would make the first 10 of aftermarket stuff effectively free

Would be one hell of a canyon bike. And as stated it’s gonna have more than enough balls

If yer lucky it will only scare you every once in a while. And you are either lucky or really good. If you really been riding spiritedly the canyons for 30 years you are prolly both

Touring Sport is probably where I’ll start. Thank you for the report.

See you up on 215 or 151 some day

tell Monica Hi from Phil

I almost got a lil skinned up test riding a 1299 when they first came out. As usual shorts tee shirt tennis shoes etc. I told them to turn off all the electronics. Not sure if dude did it on purpose or not but somehow the electronic steering stabilizer got disabled when the WC n TC got turned off. Half way thru high gear on pch that thing went into the most violent tank slappers. Thought I was going to die. If you test ride w electric stabilizer plz check where they have it before you ride

*and enjoy ☮️

Welp, to update this thread, I’ve pulled the trigger on a V2 in red and should be taking delivery this Saturday. The next day is supposed to be 60 degrees and sunny, and the Blue Ridge Parkway is open in my area. Woot!

After the break-in, I’ll be looking for a tail tidy, heat shielding, and doing the EVAP charcoal canister delete. And I’ll remove the pesky reflectors from the front wheel. While the white is cool, red is the only color.

Only thing missing from yer list is the gold wheels : )

^^^ I think you were recommending the rattle can treatment in another thread.... :D
