Yes!!!! I'm getting married to the woman I dream about and I'm shopping for a wedding band, that she, of course will be buying. I belong to several forums but I felt there are two that have an audience of people whose advice I find worthwhile. This forum, of course is one of them. Okay, so....

Titanium
Platinum
Tungsten
Cobalt

Then not so interested in:
Gold
Silver

It's pretty neat in my initial search for a ring as I was surprised to see carbon fiber inlays for most of the metals I'm interested in. Assuming price is not that big of a consideration, I sit behind a desk but I am very active. I work out every day which includes lifting, so it would have to be able to take the punishment of the bar. P90x, so withstand tons of pullps, x-fit, so you know the abuses it would get there, and events like tough mudder and spartan, though I haven't YET participated in either. It needs to be manly, of course AND owning a Ducati, I was pleasantly surprised to find there are carbon fiber inlays (and no, I do not want a full on cf ring) and we all KNOW how much we love our carbon fiber! Maybe Guido (Shift Tech) can design me something!!!

I value this forum members suggestions based on the history of very insightful and almost always helpful posts.

My ring is platinum. Something in gold makes my skin itch! I really didn't have a preference besides gold.

Everything but Platinum is NOT adjustable. You cant "re-size" them in the future, but Platinum cost the most obviously (above silver and gold).

Platinum is strong compared to silver and gold, but titanium is the lightest.

It depends on your personality. Do you like "bling?" Platinum with little diamonds on it or are you simple kind of a guy?

I prefer Black Titanium with white gold/platinum band around the middle or something like that. simple yet making a wedding band.

Tungsten is dangerous for wedding bands. If you ever need it removed or something happens where your hand is caught by it, you're done because you can rarely cut it off in an emergency. So if you work with your hands or if you have trauma to your hand, it's going to exacerbate it.

I really have nothing to say here - I think I'll browse the retirement thread instead.

Tungsten is very resistant to cutting if not nearly impossible, however, it can be hit with force causing it to crack and then pieced off. I guess this is the procedure ER's use when they need to remove one.

what about white gold?

Thanks guys for the suggestions. The wedding isn't until July so I have a little time to really narrow things down. Thanks for the heads up on the Tungsten. As for white gold, I still feel that it is a little too soft for my lifestyle. I like the titanium suggestions but want to be able to feel the weight of the ring. Platinum with some carbon fiber sounds like a good option! At least I still have time to shop around.
