My assumption: not safe to ride any more, blabla bla ... New tire on order.

BUT - i mean to be honest, I am quite disappointed. There's still some life on this tread left. Have any of you guys ever dealt with the manufacturer regarding this? I can't recall it being me who has caused this, I'd rather assume it's a manufacturers' fault... Or not?

Cheers,

Phil

What i wrote to Michelin:

<<<Dear Sir or Madam, i have a set of Power Cups on my Ducati 1199. The tires have one trackday and approx. 1200 more miles on the road on them. This weekend i detected a blister on the rear tires' surface. Image: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-.../obFbfOEalKA/s800/IMG_20130907_122822_361.jpg

There hasn't been any "abuse" to the tire, nor abnormal temperatures.

Can i assume that this is a quality problem of the tire itself and it is covered under a certain warranty, or shall i just dump the tire and go back to the Pirelli Supercorsa (OEM)?

Thank you in advance,

Phil>>>

Well, I like the direct approach to the manufacturer haha.

It looks like some sort of belt separation, or carcass separation. I would tend to agree its a manufacturer issue. I had a few problems with my Michelin Power Cups as well, so I don't think I will be going back to them.

Good luck!

yep, next ones will be supercorsas...

Damn that sucks. I was actually gonna get CUPs but since I had a road trip coming up I ended up getting the Q3s. And I gotta say.....I LOVE THEM. And very well priced too. Just something to look into.

I like the approach, personally I have ran cups for the last 1.5 years direct from a good friend and Michelin rep. I've experienced zero problems with any of my over 10 sets ive been through on my track bike before making the switch to slicks. i'll text him and see what he has to say about it..

if their response sucks, i am gonna stop by their building here in greenville, SC and burn the sucker out :D

or not.

alright phil my buddy got back to me.. and his guess is as good as yours.. he suggests that it could be from excessive heat on a possibly under inflated tire.. or possible a bad tire du to the possible separation of the compounds.. but they haven't recently had any customer call ins about blistering/bubbling or so on. unfortunately cannot take customer calls except on tires he has sold/installed so keep after the dealer to get on the manufacturer
sorry I couldn't get anything else out of him.. he started to get all PR in the end.. as expected

Michelin and my dealer assessed the tire and concluded that this is a warranty item.

Will get the same tire again.
