Modify stock seat

I find the stock seat really slippery. Any large bumps and I go sliding towards the tank. I bought a comfort seat and find I don't slide anymore, heat feels less on my legs and is...well, more comfortable.

I tried my stock seat again the other day after months of the comfort and felt like the bike was more nimble in direction changes with the stock seat. Heat was more, but comfort wasn't horrible...so now I'm thinking of modifying the stock seat. Perhaps re-upholstering it with a stickier material but wanted to see if:

1) anyone else has noticed an easier/more nimble handling on stock seat vs comfort

2) what kind of material I should be looking into to make the seat stickier and slide less

Thoughts?

Just get the stock 899 seat. Similar stock height and far better grip than the original 1199 vinyl covered seat.

I've got an 899, so that's the stock seat I'm referring to. Just looking for more grip without the height of the comfort seat!

Oh wow. If you feel the 899 stock seat is slippery, wonder what you'd think about the original 1199 seats lol.

899 seat is extremely grippy in comparison. I don't slide off anywhere on this seat....jeans or leathers.

I wrapped my stock 1199 seat with black suede. Looks good. Better grip. Still feels like its made out of cement.

Question.

R and 899 seat height difference. same or thinner (lower)[/QUOTe

It makes no difference because it is a cover that you put on your original seat.

If the firmness gets you try this as well http://www.luimoto.com/gallery.php?g=VIDEO#132

Thanks but I was asking height difference between 899 and R (If there is any)

but Jarel got back and said 899/959/1299/R are all same.

Seriously? Replacing my stock with a luimoto cover and gel inserts did zero for the handling of the bike, nor did it increase the horsepower. But it did aid in my butt comfort though and I have had no issues with slippage. Just get some tank grippers.
