Now this is a hundred times better than an overview of an R. Congrats on the beautiful bike and nice mods!

Get a hold of some safety wire pliers, and redo the exhaust shield fasteners properly. Other than that suggestion, very nice job. Are you planning on finishing up the fairing in carbon fiber? Looks like you have spent a bundle to lighten it up. If you decide to install the full Termi headers, look into the TuneBoy program for your ECU, including the trim program Wayne has developed for the full Termi system. It runs far better than the included upmap from Termignoni. I am 60, and have a nicely modified Tricolore; as such, I am a believer in we "seasoned" Panigale guys have to stick together!!

If you're really 75 my hat is off to you just for getting that model! Then you can modd the crap out of it and gain more of my admiration.

You only live once. At 60 years of age, my dad has days where he can barely move. He does work 60hr weeks running his own tailoring business but still, riding a motorcycle, a racebike at that, is an accomplishment in itself at 75yrs of age. Tastefully modded or not, I wouldn't give a damn.

May want to look at losing the engine covers with the different sub frame if you don't mind the heat?

Other than that, all good.

And at 75, riding an 1199R? My hat off to you sir, you are cool as f*ck!!

:D

did i read that correctly? 75? ... really? :) go man go ! :)

a mod that may come in handy : the PS3 shoft system... in a couple of years that is... :)

I'm for team Doug ! Brilliant!
I met a Legend his name is Norrie from Scotland on his 3 rd Panigale he now has the 'R' and he is all over Europe track days. He rides from England to Italy no prob he is awesome in fact I joke with my husband that I will get a tee shirt made with Norrie fan club!

My husband is 70 and had never ridden a bike till he met me. He learned at 64 and I love him all the more for that, he is my riding buddy and it's wonderful to see him having so much fun.
Anyhow Doug I am planning the 1st international multistrada meet in the USA May 2015 you are welcome to join us, zvez from this site will be joining us Tail of the dragon etc NC

Warm welcome to you
The Duchess

At 75 your profile should be listed as 'Senior Member' Not Junior...hehe all jokes aside hats off to you for riding an 1199 R at 75!! Awesome. I can only hope I'm still riding at 75 let alone a Ducati Superbike!!

May I add, very nice bike!

Well done Doug . My dad is 77 and he still come riding with me inspiring for sure .

Hats off to ya buddy! Bravo!
If you want to experience another great customer service oriented C.F. company try out Shift Tech as well.

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions. I think the key to riding longevity is to never stop.
Also, the shift lever adjustment doesn't work. You need the Corse Dynamics shaft w/reverse threads.

I've seen bigger chicken strips on 22 year old racer-boy bikes. Way to go. Hope I'm still around AND riding a 2045 Ducati when I'm 75.

Bravo to you! (from a 62 yr old).

CMC Carbon/Ceramic rotors

I've transfered my Braketech CMC Carbon Ceramic rotors from my '05 Suzuki GSXR1000 to my Panigale R, thanks to Jeff@Braketech who supplied new carriers, buttons, pads and much good tech help.
I saved over three pounds (3 lbs, 2 oz) under stock in unsprung weight!
I added Ti caliper bolts, cut down 5mm and removed spacers for the 320mm rotors.
For the Gixxer, I had an extra CMC test sample rotor that i'm adding and an Axis Cobra rotor for a net gain of 1 lb 9 oz.
The Panigale R feels lighter and turns in easier. I'm still bedding in the new pads but my experience w/CMC brakes on the Suzuki showed no need for warm-up, great feel on trail braking, w/no fade or wear. Also they work in the rain, I hear.
