I have done my own valve adjustment and it wasnt as hard as this. Got my big beautiful box from Motoxp and upon opening two pieces were damaged (if youve seen how awesome these people pack fairings you'd know they could never be damged in shipping.

Then no pieces fit, had to severly modify the tail pieces to get them to come together correctly and will have to do the same to the side fairings.

Now the oil pan. Pretty much the only piece I REALLY need to work to race this year and it doesnt fit at all. I tried mounting it containing the lower radiator and then it doesnt fit the stock black plastic radiator mount. Tried it outside the lower radiator and it pushes the mounting points too far on the radiator so Im assuming its option A. but option A doesnt work. Above all it doesnt fit my termi exhaust (i double checked with an employee when I ordered and told them exactly what I had). I will basically have to slice off the back end of the oil pan to get it to fit and destroy my stock radiator mounts.

Im hesitant to even try mounting the front piece because who knows what is out of alignment there.

I ordered from MotoXp because I saw some good reviews on here and they have good prices. Asking for a full refund or full replacement. I have 10 days til a race and am in desperate need of fairings that are functional.

MotoXp has a lot to do before I change my thumbs down to a thumbs up.

If anyone has tips for the install do tell.

We've had pretty good luck with them, they're still race fairings and will always require a little fiddling just like any other brand of race fairings (other than the OEM ones). Have you installed other race fairings before? If so, how would you compare the fit of these to others you've used?

Thanks this is helpful, looks like im stuck with these so Im going to try and make it work. Interesting you mentioned the inbetween fitment because I just got instruction that the whole shroud and radiator go inside the belly pan.

They are idiots... and am pretty sure they have never actually fitted them. You can fit it on the outside but good luck getting the bottom of the fairings bolted together. Putting it in between, the belly pan slides in perfect and you should have room for the exhaust.

Thanks for the review. I've been considering a set of these for a new race bike, but have not had a chance to see in person. Their prices for a full set with paint is smoking.

Which version of their fairings did you purchase?? Their "Carbon Tex" sounds good in theory.

How come you went with the 3 piece tail instead of their 1 piece?

I've put together quite a few race bikes, and have been sponsored by a few different bodywork companies. It really does come down to the old saying, "You get what you pay for"

I've personally never had a fitment issue with Sharkskinz. Never.
Catalyst and Armourbodies make a good product as well, but sometimes model to model may need a bit of "massaging" to get right.

I've been in your shoes before. One week prior to first race being pissed off filing and sanding fiberglass to make things work. Not a good feeling. Just take your time, make it work and try not to let it get you too upset :)

I went with a 1299 three piece tail (single piece not available yet. Same mounting points since subframe is same part number in catalog. I really like the look of the 1299 tail so I slapped it on my 1199 :D

Had to massage the pieces to fit. But so far the only piece that fits.

I purchased a set of unpainted race fairings since I will be doing my own design

have you try installing without radiator shroud ? it should free up some space in between radiator and ballypan

As I'm having some of these painted now...I'd appreciate hearing more of any issues with fitment. I don't mind having to massage things a little....

Also, what hardware folks use. Stock?

I'd love some Sharkskinz...but apparently they and AB's have thus far decided they aren't interested in making 1299/R bodywork.

Massaging bodywork that has already been painted is no fun. Doing it prior to paint isn't so bad.

Hopefully the original poster just got a bad batch. Seems like Moto XP Ricambi makes quite a few of these.

The last thing you want to do with painted bodywork is have to sand or file it to make it fit.

As of right now, it doesn't look very hopeful for Sharskinz to make 1299 glass.

Sebimoto has the molds, but they're not showing the race version with 1 piece sides. Hopefully that will be sorted soon as they have produced full race versions for the 1299.

yes you can re use stock hardware, make sure you have IMU bracket holder , i got mine from a member here, also i am having hard time locating rear break light connector, did search on this site found few links, but all of the links are for 1199,

I try puling one by one, as it was recommended, i still have my check engine light/stop light on, i disconnected one of the two front break lights wires and the error is not going away

I got the nice bracket and front fairing stay from Ulf...really nice!

Sorry to hijack-

UPDATE

Here is the damage that they told me to not worry about and said to just "fix it when I paint it." One is a hole in the tail and the other the edge got chipped off.

When I said the oilpan didnt fit, they gave me the wrong instructions to mount it. Went with member post to fit it right. Had to saw off part of radiator shroud and make my own exhaust bracket.

THEN, noticed the left fairing has a bulge in it (attached both sides for comparison)... UGH! Sent a polite email asking what to do now. 7 days till race time. Can I reshape it?

Still a thumbs down.

Your situation sounds very frustrating, especially with a track day coming up. My install was fairly straight forward but I took my time (2 weeks) thinking about how every part would go together and a lot of trial and error in fitment. In the end I got there and while I learned a few things, it would have been nice if there was some guide that would have eased my learning experience.

I too had some very small chipping damage with my 899/1199 set however they were VERY accommodating when brought to their attention, with that I would fix the damage on your panels when I painted them. Race fairings are imperfect in may respects.

If the panel is bulging is there something behind it that is forcing it out?

Hang in there - you will get it!

I think you are very picky customer, it's a race plastic after all, you should be good with all this damage, you got a good deal on those no ? Lol good luck with your race

I'm picky, i know. I just believe in getting an unbroken product. Got a reply and MotoXP says the "bump" is an air inlet that race teams use. Can anyone verify this?

i will post some pics tonight, on how mine looks like for you to compare, i don't think it looks like what you have in your left picture

Some more pictures for reference , I retain radiator plastic shroud and this is what it looks like
