Was on the look out for a perforated leather jacket for Norcal summer riding and had just about decided upon the Astars GP-R when I went into the Dainese D-store in San Francisco on Friday. Walked out with the Alien perforated jacket with D skin and bubble lining. Looks, feels and smells amazing (but has an amazing price too) but loving it so far.

I really like that store, I bought a 2 piece Dainese at 40% off when I visited sf last fall.

I'm looking for a summer jacket now and the A* GPR caught my eye. Is that Dainese you got perfed? Doesn't look like a summer jacket from the pics.

It has got perf but the theory is that the stretch panels are supposed to let air thru as well. I rode today in low-mid 60's with thermal vest thing and mid layer and actually felt a bit cold. The bubble system is about 1/8th of an inch and supposed to act like a thermos - keep an air barrier that keeps you cool when hot and warm when cold.
You can review videos on sportbiketrackgear.com and revzilla.com. Guy in shop said it was a better temp control jacket then the Racing jacket. Certainly seemed to be cool today!! You also get that fantastic waft of leather when riding as well - it doesn't really matter if you're hot!!

I got the Alien jacket about a month ago and love it. I did get it in one size larger than I normally would so that I can put a couple layers underneath it. I've always been really happy with all of my Dainese gear.

I picked this one up a few weeks ago. Dainese Super Speed Perforated leather. Best jacket I've owed to date. Between the (1)stretch panels,(2) the incredible amount of Perf. On the front, back and arms, and (3)the front vents and flying squirrel exhausts, this jacket flows a ton of air. I rode for 2hrs in 80(F)+ degrees today and was cooler than any textile jacket I own. Love this thing

I am not a brand whore, but I got that jacket a gift from a friend and I'm floored with it's quality & how versatile it is. Overall an amazing piece of motorcycle equipment. You're going to be very happy w/ it.

I have the Dainese Rebel, last years version of the jacket you are looking at, Im in So Cal and wear it even when its over 80 degrees, then i switch to a lighter weight jacket

but i agree with everyone here, the perf really works and i love the feel and smell of the jacket, I use the Wave backplate too

Did you guys find the Alien broke in after a few sessions? The D-skin feels so soft and supple that I find it hard to beleive it could get any better?
