So I’m curious what i have to look forward to after years of spanking my 1299

why do u need a motor?

I recently bought a motor off of here and the dealer is putting it in now but a rod bearing went bad ruin the crank and a lot of the case at only a little under 10k miles and they quoted me 8k-10k to rebuild vs. $1,200 to put one in

That’s interesting, but not good. If you take it apart show the pictures. They, rod bearings, can go bad but it’s usually an oil problem or debris getting past the filter and clogging up passages.

You might try to get Ducati to help out, I'd send them a email detailing what went bad and that they could have the bad engine back....and they might help out. Manufacturers like to get things back that failed like that, to study the carcass and add it to their database of failures of parts or suppliers. You won't get a new engine, but they might give you something like some Ducati money towards gear or parts.

wondering if the 7,500 mile oil renew interval is bs, service writers say no it’s fine but I’m a fan of 2,000 mile oil changes
