It appears to be the same stuff that Ducati used to 'fix' the lower fairing melting on the exhaust issue.
 
Yes, I have seen this also (now appears as a sponsor side on facebook). It seems to be created more for 899/959 with their plastic subframe covers. I think it would work quite well on those bikes but not as well on 1199/1299 with aluminium subframes. Most heat is coming from exhaust header heating up subfame and seat. So seat shield would help as well as thevsubframe cover (as many have reported e.g. Carbon subframe covers decrease the heat a lot on 1199/1299 bikes). I do not beleave in those rear cylinder head covers at all, I did not feal any heat increase after I removed them on my bike.

Can't you purchase Heat shield material from HomeDepot that will accomplish the same thing? Also looking at the videos the new coolant seem to be the main factor of reduced heat not the padding.
 
Let me know if you guys have any questions about the kit! Looking to get a 1299 soon, so I can see what tweaks to the kit will be necessary for your bikes.

This has been a long time coming. Much more challenging to get this set up for mass production than I was anticipating. And that heat shield material ain't cheap!

It is pretty cheap if you just do the seat! But a huge proportion of the heat comes from the engine and subframe covers. To buy enough of the material we use to make an entire kit is about $65 on Amazon.

And how does yours "look better"? You can't even see it from outside the bike! :p

i'd say at $89 the mark up aint so bad and the time saved cutting more than makes up for it!

Let's be honest, this didn't cost you $60 in material. It is all about panelization. You use small pieces which allows you to use most of the material without waste. Here is what I did to my seat and cost me $10 +1hr of labor. If I transferred it to my laser cutter and spent few hours to CAD it, I could have done way better job. There is nothing wrong to mark up what you think is worth your labor and material and make money. But just to claim that material itself is that is not cool.

Yes, heat is definitely coming from exhaust! I did not notice any heat increase at all after I removed rear header heat shields. Perhaps a bit better cooling of the cylinder head and rear header due to improved air circulation"¦.

I would argue this.

Engine temps dictate how hot deez nuts get.

A better heat shield does help with exhaust heat so I'm not saying its not all exhaust.

On 300 mile rides the only time I have ever had a heat problem was in slower traffic when the engine gets over 200F, the second that engine is down to 195 its only hot not toast your sacks off hot.


For me I wrapped my exhaust and used the new heat shield on the 1199 instead of the old terni skinny cf shield that was worthless. That alone tamed the exhaust and isolated heat to just the engine temp.

Best mod you can do for butt heat is a bigger radiator.


Again at track speeds old style skinny shield no wrap, and I could feel heat on a 100f day and deez nuts were getting way to hot.

Now with new style termi exhaust shield, and wrapped, I'm good. It never gets hot at track speed.

Stop and go on a 100f day is tolerable, UNLESS you get caught in traffic at 35mph for 30 minutes and the engine gets over 200F, then forget it.
