Hi all, just joined the forum and the welcome email asked me to introduce myself.
So hello from Spain.
Finally bought a Panigale V2 955 (2023 - Red, no modifications) at the end of October
Unfortunately the day before the storms and floods that brought disaster to Spain (thoughts for all those who lost loved ones). So still have not had chance to ride it on my favourite twisty roads due to the road closures as quite rightly priority is being given to other more important matters.
Previous/current bikes include R6, ZX6R, ZX10R, SuperDuke 990, Hypermotard, StreetTriple, MT09 SP, Duke 890R, Aprilia RS660 plus lots of off road bikes, Enduro, MX and still very much enjoy track days.
Had one short opportunity to ride on other less challenging/fun roads last weekend and can say that my scepticism regarding others over exaggerating the handling was truly quashed, it corners like a dream, so tight and responsive.
The V-Twin is not like previous V-Twins I have owned in the past, the torque delivery is nothing like the kick in the pants feel from the SuperDuke 990, I am also surprised at how high revving it is and where the redline is, but does not have the power surge like an inline four has, all felt very linear and the sensation of not accelerating was at odds with what I saw when I looked down at the speedometer and saw the speed I was actual doing.
The mirrors ! - Quickly learned to come off the throttle to stop the blurring when I needed to see what was behind.
No fuel gauge ! - But have been riding long enough to ride before fuel gauges or even warning lights, the ´fun´ of losing power and hunting for the fuel tap and having to twist it 180 degrees to the reserve position. So it is back to the old school method of resetting the trip counter at every refuel to figure out the kilometres range.
An Aprilia RS660 is my current fully converted to track bike and currently no plans to turn the V2 into a track only bike, but it will be in the van and given the opportunity to stretch its legs, Jerez is the next date on the calendar, that should be fun.
I always ride in race shift to avoid confusion when switching between street and track so I was surprised to discover that you cannot simply reverse the gear shift and need to buy a part and cable for €180, welcome to the Ducati world - part now on order.
Will also be ordering the Arrow Racing Titanium Slip on exhaust to free it from the Catalytic Convertor/Euro5 breathing restriction, just waiting to see if any decent discounts for Black Friday.
Also on order are some personally designed stickers from VulturBike in Italy to add a bit of green and white tricolour accents and make it individual to me.
Looking forward to reading what other forum members enjoy and benefitting from others experience should I have any questions.
Antonio
