Hi Guys,
New to this forum. Still deciding on on an 848 vs a Panigale, so while I am close to pulling the trigger, thought I'd sign on to this forum to learn more about the Panigale.
I really like the look of the Panigale, but the reviews on the heat under the seat is making me think.
Any help you guys can share would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Welcome! I am also fairly new to the forum but I am in a similar boat as you. I am currently on an 848 and I'm contemplating moving up to the Pani. I'm working on trying to get a test ride so I can put context behind all I've read. Not sure if this is new or not but there are a few write-ups that I happened to like.

One of them being AntiHero's write up (His Coast to Coast one is a worthy read as well):
RideApart Review: Ducati 1199 Panigale S | Hell for Leather Hell for Leather

And another one was this visor down article:
Living with a Ducati 1199 Panigale S - Road Tests: First Rides - Visordown

Enjoy!

I rode a 848 EVO for a while, and I have owned my 1199 since August

i say hands down the 1199 is more comfortable for me, and all of the extra features and design made the decision one I will never regret making.

as to not open the heat issue again, it is hot, there is a fix coming and without the fix, i would still tale the 1199 over the 848 any day

Thanks for these, have gone through them which is why I keep going back to the Panigale :) If you do pull the trigger or get to try the 1199 and compare to 848, please keep me posted.

Good to know about this. Was it much hotter than the 848 when running around town?

it seems noticably hotter than the 848, but to be clear, it is hottest at low speeds and stopped at lights, I dont feel it as much in the canyons or on wide open freeways.

still not a question for me on which one i think is more for me, 1199 wins every time.

My back likes it much better too :)

Thanks! Have to go sit on both again then! I really like the 1199 and the feedback you provided helps. Thank you much.

I'm 23 and I own an 1199. If you're willing to save up a little more money to get the 1199, TRUST ME, it's worth the wait. Being from New York, it isn't really a bother here to ride, in terms of the heat. But my friend owns an 848 and I've ridden it a few times. The main difference, in my opinion, is that the 848 is too stiff. It's not the most comfortable ride out there. The 1199 is surprisingly comfortable as an everyday ride for a sportbike. But it all boils down to whether you want to spend 14 grand for a bike or 20. They're both awesome bikes, in my opinion, but nothing comes close to the 1199. You'll enjoy the ride, regardless :)

No doubt the 1199 is a pretty bike, and yes you are right, the ergos do feel much better. (when I sat on it) . Will keep you posted. Thanks.

I would test ride both... If you can.
As soon as weather permits, will do this. Thanks.

I think this guy started maybe a week ago??? Duc must have gotten 1000's of complaints when they are all added up.. and he has done zip... No wonder guys are frustrated... all the efforts most of the members have put in to make this place awesome is being pissed away by this lack of diligence on Ducs part....
